Why hasnt China or Korea come out with knock off Graphics cards that you can buy for a fraction of the price for the same performance as American Graphics cards?
>>
>>51287450
They exist.
They dont work.

Fake Nvidia cards for example with Nvidia (written Upwards) fake fans.
>>
They won't work because of hardware incompatibility
>>
>>51287450
Too busy making them
>>
>>51287474
I'm pretty sure OP means same shit as Rockchip and Mediatek. They started by copying everything with no regards for IP laws, because China, and later developed their own chips
>>
>>51287450
dGPU isn't a highly scalable market. You make a cheaper phone and you open it up to poorer and poorer people. You make a cheaper graphics card and you just save the people who are already buying graphics cards a few bucks.
Basically, you'd be competing with AMD on margins, and AMD already has negative margins. Good luck trying to out-cheap a company that already can't pay the bills.
>>
>>51287636
How do we kill nvidia?
>>
>>51287450
The way cpu's and gpu's are manufactured have HUGE entrance to market barriers.

Its relatively easy to stamp out extra sunglasses with no logos, but for things in the semiconductor business
the factories need super high maintenance and equipment costs so making cutting edge gpu's is near
impossible for a company to just start and making batches without hundreds of millions in start up costs.

There are few factories that can produce them and they are usually already at capacity fulfilling orders as even
the imperfect batches still get used ie you get an i5 vs i7.

Look up Vamery on eBay, they sell GPUs labeled as high end cards but use old cards in a different cooler. Labeled 780 on the listing, but with specs of say a 480.
>>
>>51288337
But this is China, they can make anything.

>>51288419
that's because that's what it is.
they take something old and cheap like a 9600 gt and sell it as a 650 ti.
>>
>>51287450
because theres no money to design that shit
>>
>>51288337
pretty much this.
but then you have people selling the failed chips as ES.
>>
>>51287636
You can save alot of money when you don't pay game devs and marketing huge sums of cash....along with pricey ideas guys and expensive ceos
>>
>>51287450
They should hire the clock kid to solder some CPUs for them
>>
>>51287653
Don't buy their GPUs, you can currently get a r9 290 for $199 from newegg. your 980 ti will be obsolete in a year thanks to pascal drivers.
>>51288559
>>
>>51288595
Yeah, but most high end fabs aren't actually in China for that reason.

In fact most of intel's are in the US.

Nvidia isn't as big so they outsource it to places like taiwan (TMSC) in which no way would hurt their reputation by selling unbranded stuff.
Especially since they have a direct competitor, Global Foundries, who would gladly pick up new customers from them.
>>
>>51288767
How much would it cost to make one of these processor factory things?
>>
>>51287450

They already are Chinese m8
>>
>>51288618
whircom to za vamery famery :)
>>
>>51288827
About $17,000,000,000 USD if built in America. Maybe $9,000,000,000 USD if built in some place like Taiwan or Japan.
Not worth building it at even a couple dozen million instead of 9 billion if you try it in China, Laos, Cambodia, or Vietnam since they don't have the capability for the necessary QC or sufficiently trained workers.
>>
>>51289008
shit.
>>
Chinese Loongson = MIPS
Russian Elbrus = SPARC

Outside of England, Japan, US, and Canada, no other countries have made a significant contribution that isn't a complete ripoff or doesn't use some other licensed ip.

jesus fuck

why isn't there an independently wealthy tech mogul that's willing to make something like this happen? If you could make an Amazon Basics of sorts for graphics cards and processors and things, you could corner the poverty market ( nearly half the us now )
>>
>>51289718
because those poorfags can just use integrated gpu.
>>
>>51287450
because amd would sue them for anti competitive business practices.
>>
>>51288618
>Radeon NVIDIA
>>
>>51288618
The sad part is that they actually sell the shit, people have no clue what the hell they're buying and just see that it's the cheapest high end card out there and complain about their games being not smooth.

Nvidia is a shady as fuck company, but buyer stupidity from things like that gives them a lot of bad light they don't deserve.

Not that they don't deserve bad light. Just that they don't deserve it from people buying cards labeled as high end and then realizing they were cheated.

Oh wait. This happens every generation of GPUs, AMD or Nvidia...

Guess consumers can't win for shit, can they
>>
>>51289718
poorfags just buy a console
>>
>>51289008
>billion
Maybe after everything is said and done. But It won't take 9bil just to get a functioning factory on the most base level. It shouldn't be even 1billion if you cut all the corners.
>>
>>51289718
If I ever become rich, this is what I plan to do.

Why would someone bother ?

this

Modern Elbrus is actually a unique in-house design, but the name was also used on older systems based on SPARC chips.
