What is a good anti-virus software to use without having to spend any money?
ClamAV
malwarebytes
>>47618193
MSE
VLC
>>47618218
clamav a shit
>>47618230
this.
I also use avast free. I dont know why these threads are made every single day. its not like the responses will change anytime soon
>>47618193
Don'tRunAsAdmin.exe
>>47618193
Kaspersky, get a trial resetter or upgrade your common sense.
Also, MSE is the same or worst has not having AV, so just dont install/use that.
>>47618677
How long as your trial resetter been working for?
For some reason, every time I try Kaspersky, it always manages to get deactivated after about 2 months.(Which is why I just got tired of attempting it)
>>47618756
Well, after the trial expires wich is 30 days, then you run the trial resetter again and you have another 30 days...
You think its automatic or something?
>>47618769
I'm saying in the past, even trial resetters stopped working after a period of time because they blocked it from working. I was asking how long as yours been working for.
Considering you made such a retarded response, it's safe to assume you're clueless.
>>47618193
CommonSense
>>47618831
Have been using it for 1 year or more
And, you just put it on the exclusions if it ever get flagged, duh
Gentoo.
>>47618193
gentoo
>>47618867
> you just put it on the exclusions
No shit.
That does nothing if they internally change the way the program works, in which case you'd have to download another updated trial resetter.(Back to my first point)
Not worth it
Spybot. It caught a lot of stuff that no others caught, including malwarebytes
>>47618929
What?
The trial reset just erases the registry data and files that tells the program when it was installed and they update the software every year (2013, 2014, 2015, etc), no shit you would need a new resetter for a new version holy shit its not hard to use 10 seconds of your time every month and 30 every year. Stop being retarded.
>>47618929
>in which case you'd have to download another updated trial resetter
So, what's the problem? You just get it from your trusted sources like every year...
>>47618193
brain.exe
Seriously, nobody's suggested common sense 2015?
>>47619144
We already did, read the thread next time you stupid fuck.
>>47618230
Except malwarebytes isn't an av
>>47618193
Nothing
Antiviruses are for wintards who don't deserve a computer license
>>47619159
Damn, C-f, you failed me
>>47619190
As a GNU/Linux user, I think it's obvious that if GNU/Linux was as widely used as windows there would be plenty of viruses targeted for GNU/Linux as well.
>>47618193
Norton McAfee
>>47619170
except it is
Avast
>>47619210
>>47619316
cool. where does that say malwarebytes is not antivirus software?
protip: it doesn't.
Why is there always this fucking thread why is there always this fucking thread why is there always this fucking thread
Two people in my household have laptops. They have two accounts on them: one that's admin and only used for installing/updating/uninstalling software, and the other that they use on a regular basis.
THEY DON'T GET FUCKING VIRUSES BECAUSE THEY DON'T RUN AS ADMIN AND THEY DON'T FUCKING PIRATE SOFTWARE AND THEY DON'T USE IE
There is literally nothing else they do or have to
>>47619392
Are you fucking stupid?
>Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not meant to be a replacement for antivirus software
>Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a complementary but essential program
>It is important to note that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware works well and should run alongside antivirus software without conflicts
You literally don't know how to read. OUTSTANDING work, amigo.
Kill yourself.
Use the Microsoft build-in defender. Who knows the system best if not those who built it?
However, I downloaded a pirated game and trying to fag around with the cracked dll Windows defender was ringing the bells. So I am sure now now that it works.
Btw, best way to avoid shit is using a sandbox or VM.
>>47618193
>Needing antivirus
Program your own OS from scratch. Viruses will become non-existent to your machine.
>AV
what is this? the stupid ages?
>>47618218
anyway this faggot if you really need it
trusting nonfree binaries to "protect" you from vulnerable software and your own stupidity is laughable and I find it hellarious how many people fall for this shit scamware.
>>47618867
>Have been using it for 1 year or more
Using trial reset since 2009. Get the correct reseter from ru-board.com
1. Don't download and run viruses
2. No need for anti-virus
Anti-viruses sell on the mistaken idea that viruses are forced upon users.
This is incorrect. Users run and execute viruses completely of their own volition.
Trust_me_Im_a_dolphin.exe is not actually a dolphin.
That's your antivirus.
>>47620589
We're not in 2000 retard
I've been using 360 TS Essential. It comes with a sandboxing feature, whitelisting isn't a huge fucking hassle like it is with avast. And it comes with both Avira's and Bitdefender's virus database as optional extra protection(both are disabled by default). And it always ranks high in av tests.
>>47620599
you're right, it's 2015; so people should be smart enough to realize AV is a scam and only dipshits install it.
>>47620648
Yeah you know every exploit that is discovered so you can avoid it. Are you this level of retarded?
>>47620291
wow. so mad. again, none of that says malwarebytes is not antivirus software (which it is, by defintion).
>>47620664
yeah a nonfree binary can magically know and defend against every exploit discovered.
ARE YOU this level of retarded?
>>47620664
lel your precious antivirus won't protect you against 0-days, dipshit.
>>47618193
If you have to ask then no antivir can help you anyway, Essentials and Malwarebytes
>>47618301
Avast is great and works flawlessly.
I would pair it with Spybot and Malwarebytes. I also like Roguekiller as it has some awesome features.
>>47620947
>nonfree binary can magically know and defend against every exploit discovered
Holy shit, you are truly retarded. Do you know what the number in the pic means? Does anything tell you that AV companies are working together with agencies like Interpol against botnets for example?
>>47620964
You are not protected from 90 or 1090 day exploits retard.
