I've always been fine with getting blood taken, so this one time when I went to a clinic (the nurse was going to take 10 small tubes of blood) I thought all would be fine, but at around the 7th tube, everything started to turn white and it felt like I was drifting away from the room. I could hear my mother freaking out, but she sounded really distant. I remember thinking that I couldn't let myself get too far away otherwise I felt like I wouldn't be able to get back. I've lost much more blood before and almost fainted, but it was nothing like that experience at the clinic. Has anyone else here experienced something similar? (If so, do you know what it was?)

I gave blood on Monday and was dizzy and nauseous for the rest of the day despite never having had a negative reaction before. I think it's just that I didn't eat much the day before. I wouldn't freak out about it.

in short, you just had low blood sugar. when blood sugar is low, consciousness tends to fade away and people pass out.

considering you told us you didn't eat much, the day before...

know how in some cases, people are given a glass or so of OJ, after blood donation?

i think you did the mistake of not having enough sweet things, the day before

This is exactly it.

I had the same thing happen to me recently. Not allowed to eat or drink anything other than water for 8 hours before.
Ended up having to lay back on the chair and slowly drink some water until my mind focused again.

Feels like you are being pulled backwards down a corridor and all your senses slowly becoming numb while your thoughts become slower and harder to organise.
