I very much recommend Devilman, its in my top 10 for sure, but I would honestly suggest the manga over the OVA's. Its never gotten a faithful anime adaption and while the first OVA is 10/10 without a doubt, the other two are a little lackluster and the Devilman TV series isn't even close to being the same story, just avoid that one altogether. Its the kiddie version that more or less turned Devilman into a superhero rather than a borderline villain.
The manga though pulls no punches and its a great read. Its short too, so all you autists who can't handle a long running series wont be intimidated.

Ok. I don't really get why would you say it has something to do with Sychronicity, because it doesn't, not at all. It's a great anime and you should watch it if you like things that involve a deep analisis of the personality of someone and deconstructs the idea of existence. Yu Yu Hakusho. MC gets killed in the first episode, grim reaper says they have no place for him in the after life, so he gets a test for a chance to come back to life. Doesn't seem like it from the first arc, but gets more action oriented as it goes on.
When They Cry - endless recursion of time that always ends in murder(s).
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia - MC befriends the ghost of a girl in his school who has no memories of her life. They start a paranormal investigation club to check into the school's ghost stories and the ghost's past.
Ghost Hunt - a girl finds a camera set up in the old school building, and accidentally breaks it, putting her in debt to the narcissistic paranormal investigator who put it there.
Parasyte - alien body-snatcher-like parasite fails to take over and eat the main character's brain, and instead replaces his hand. Then they have to work together to survive.

Adding to the heap there's one (can't look now) about a girl who is the 6 millionth in line to see spirits at her family shrine, and he's a big wolf spirit who loves oranges. She can see the future, but only with Kinaru (?).
Another is Red Data Girl. Still going through that, but a girl can be possessed by some spirit who still has followers, so this girl is perfectly taken care of. But others sense her power. . .and of course she's school age so we have to have a Japanese Hogwarts.
Hikaru no Go is about a kid who finds a go board that is possessed by the spirit of a master go player, so the spirit whispers the next move to the kid and of course the kid comes out of nowhere and challenges the best go players. Bumpy resolution but worth it alone to get people into go.
Hell, there are a lot more that have spirits in them.

Well, it's a harem series, and it focuses on the characters at least as much as the action (so it's really talky). But the supernatural themes are dealt with in compelling ways.
Basically, the whole thing of it is that an encounter with the paranormal more often than not permanently changes your life in fundamental ways. It leaves marks, and if you embrace them they can become powers. Assuming you survive. The girls play rough.

This is correct. If the focus of the series isn't on vampirism, if it's action with vampire-flavored antagonists, then it's not really /x/. Jojo is more about Stands than it is about vampires, although the Tarot elements put it in our court. Hellsing is very much /x/, as are Blood and Vampire Hunter D.
