Let's get a spoopy sleep paralysis thread going. I recently had an experience with it (first time), which I will greentext in the thread. Share your own experiences!
>>

Is it considered sleep paralysis that I wake up in the middle of the night and my arms asleep/numb because I was laying on it? Because that shit happens to me and it sucks. Feels like if you move it wrong you'll fucking break your arm.
>>
Okay, so here's my sleep paralysis story.

>be me, 26 yo neckbeard
>staying the night at gf's house last night
>smoke a bowl before heading to bed
>3 am and we're starting to fall asleep
>curled up together watching Ghost Hunters (I know, I know)
>about an hour later and I open my eyes
>can't move
>wellthisblows.jpg
>I can move my eyes, but that's about it
>look over to ceiling only to see attic door open and a dark figure staring at me
>look around room and there are more shadows and an eerie red glow
>OP tried to use scream, but it failed
>realize it's sleep paralysis, but still very spooped
>eventually drift back to sleep and have a normal rest of the night.

I just find it weird that I've never experienced it before. What's weirder is my gf and her roommates claimed to have seen a shadow man in their house before, one time in particular when they were returning home and saw someone in the house through windows.
>>
>>17851550
No, that's something different. That shit used to happen to me all the time when I was younger, though. It sucks because it's all tingly and you can't move it. I used to just stretch it out like crazy and it would be better.
>>
Bamp. I want some stories, faggots.

I call bullshit.

I vape bowls and get drunk EVERY night in order not to have sleep paralysis.

If I am sober I get it and it doesn't just happen once, every time I fall back to sleep after getting out of it i'm back in it again.

I don't get shadows though, I hear noises coming from downstairs and it is as though I can see the intruder through the floor waiting to come into my room whilst I am helpless in bed paralyzed.

I NEVER drift back to sleep from sleep paralysis. All night I am in a constant cycle of sleep paralysis.

I am now an alcoholic but it is better than not sleeping. I wouldn't wish this shit on my worst enemy.

I get sleep paralysis like once a week now. The other night when it happened, a voice asked me "What ends at level eight"?

Any ideas?
>>
I got one.
I was 11 years, chillin in bed reading. decide to go to bed, schoonight and shit. I fall asleep and at sometime in the night, I never knew if it was SR or a dream, but either way pretty spooky. I'm lyin in my bed, can't move, feels like a dream but I wasn't sure. I see 3 ghostly figures on all three sides of my bed. As I sit there dumbfounded, I feel that as I wait longer, I feel more aggression and hatred towards me, like a buzzing in my ears growing louder. Finally, instinctively, I speak one word; God. And all three figures dissapear, and I sleep well the rest of the night.

lol get rekt fgt
>>
i reddit somewhere that sleeping in new locations causes you to be half awake while you sleep.

maybe causes sleep paralysis?

I've woken up camping with my gf's family saying some incriminating shit that prolly put me on the terrorist watchlist.

Level seven

I had a recurring one for along time when I was in a bad relationship, I didn't put it together at first I was really worried something was wrong.

>Wake up in own bed

>Can't move and struggle to breath, begin to panic

>Every time it begins a terrible sound coming from somewhere inside the house (different sound times, the worst was this horrible shrieking)

>Always in the direction I can't turn and face, getting closer and closer

I always snap out of it right before whatever it was gets to me. It got so bad for awhile I'd wake out of it and go right back in.

Just waiting it out was the worst because that sound getting closer always worried me no matter what.
>>
>>17854492
Fear of the unknown?
>>
>>17854550
I feel it was telling me that I subconsciously knew the relationship was doomed and the sound was just that impending end.
>>
>>
>>17854492
I've also experienced a new one since I've been on a few road trips, it seems passing out while in the sways of a moving vehicle helps put me right into paralysis.

It feels like some straight up Insidious shit as I feel completely paralyzed with even less options to struggle than in prior dreams.

Then my field of vision just begins to quickly draw back and the outline of myself, like my body becomes also like a door way or keyhole as I'm pulled back into darkness.

It seriously fucking scares me.
>>
When I have sleep paralysis, I don't see anything horrible but I'm afraid to fall back to sleep. When I close my eyes either I see three figures or hear a horrifying laugh. It's as if falling asleep is giving in to something. Usually instead of falling asleep I break free from it with pure will and end up being fully awake.

I've had the experience of being blurred through the 4th dimension. It was after I fell asleep after having sex with my ex fiance in my parents guest bedroom. I was walking around with some friends I'd never met in an empty hospital looking for ghosts and shit. We end up leaving out the back and I find some cash in a dumpster, after I pick it up I start screaming because I was being smeared like clipping through walls in an FPS.

I woke up screaming at the top of my lungs all because someone threw away some money.
>>
>>17854592
For me its just the fear of not being able to get back or that i'll become stuck like that as a vegetable. Or whatever the fuck may be pulling me away.
>>
I get sleep paralysis pretty often. Nothing spoopy happens anymore, just I want to move and can't. The only thing I can control is my breathing to raise my heart rate and wake up quicker.

The paralysis makes me feel like my mind is trapped inside my body.
>>
It is terrifying but dark figures, demons and ghosts during sleep paralysis is just bullshit made by faggots who never actually experienced sleep paralysis.
>>
I had it once but I was calm and I saw nothing unusual. The whole experience didn't last long anyway.
I had way scarier (and more realistic) dreams when I'm in my bedroom and someone visits me.
>>
Once when I was sleeping on the couch I got sleep paralysis. In real life my roommate was in the kitchen, which was just a room over, and I tried to call for her name but I couldn't make a sound and I couldn't move. Suddenly it felt as though someone was standing next to the couch behind my head, and I felt a hand slowly crawl over my face until it covered my nose and mouth, then I couldn't breathe and eventually everything I was seeing just faded to darkness and from there I eventually woke up.

I think ive experianced SP when I was getting ill around afew months back. I was in bed and I hear my mom in the next room working *She works at home filing claims and shit* and I usualy hear her around 5 in the morning or so.

This time however I was on my back and I couldent move my limbs, felt alittle dizzy and while it was early *I dont like getting up untill 7-8 and im trying to fix my sleeping scedual to an earlyer time* and wanted to fall asleep again, being unable to move freaked me out.

So I did what I usualy do when I have a nightmare and that is ever so slowly make an effort of moving my face, mouth, tongue, fingertips, toes and slowly work my way to the rest of my limbs till I could sit up in my bed then sit at the edge slumped.

Not very spooky but it was still strange as hell.

Sleep paralysis affects people differently, and can happen through different means. I smoked a bowl, that's just something that happened. And since I woke up only a couple hours afterwards, I could've still had a light buzz that intensified my experience. I don't think it was a ghost or anything of the like, I knew it was sleep paralysis. It was just really creepy.

Has anyone else ever experienced sleep paralysis that wasn't scary? It seems like people are always talking about how scary it is but for me it was benign.

One time I thought I saw a cat sitting on the floor at the side of my bed staring up at me.

Another time I thought I saw a shadow person trying to hand me my phone.

Neither time was I scared. I didn't really feel anything.

anyone?

You saw a shadow person who was handing you your phone and....your where like oh whatever I cant move....nothing strange happening here.

Do you have any base instincts to survive?

My first experiences with sleep paralysis were like that. One time (when I was probably in middle school or early high school) I took a nap on my couch after coming home from a doctor's appointment, and it happened. It was probably the first time, and I thought it was the coolest shit ever. I remember just staring towards my dad sitting at the computer. Another time, it happened during a car ride, and I was just staring at my feet and listening to the rumbling of the car.

Then one day it started getting worse and I starting getting really paranoid. It wasn't the same after this.

>Be me, probably a junior or senior in high school
>taking a nap in my bed
>get sleep paralysis, staring across the room at my door
>door leads into a hallway
>hear faint static
>try to listen closer, static gets louder
>getting real fucking paranoid now
>static is booming in my ears
>suddenly static becomes voices talking in an unknown language
>FUCK MAKE IT STOP
>still staring in the hall, paranoid as fuck that some alien or monster is gonna round the corner and fuck my shit up
>struggling like fuck to wake up, shifting around and shaking my head back and forth
>finally wake up
>sit up in bed and wonder what the fuck just happened
>start to look into lucid dreaming and stuff, and find out that it's just been sleep paralysis

Still happens every now and then, even as recently as a couple weeks ago. It never happens to me at night though; only when I'm taking a short nap. Over time they've definitely gotten more involved, too. In my most recent experience, the sounds were there, paranoia was there, and hallucinations were there. My entire living room totally changed appearance, in fact. I can post about it in a little bit.

>be me, about 2 weeks ago
>home alone, just me and my cats
>take short nap around 6:00 PM on couch
>one cat likes to lay on me or by my legs when I lay on the couch
>drift off into sleep
>itbegins.jpg
>can't move my body, can only look around
>hear man telling me that the aliens are among us, and are infiltrating as we speak
>as he talks, my living room warps into what feels like some underground bunker or military base
>suddenly, figure is right next to me
>says he wants to show me what the aliens look like
>think "fuck off, I know I'm gonna look at you and you're going to be one"
>look away
>see dude in the corner with a camera take my picture
>decide shit is getting too weird
>start forcing myself awake
>room starts shifting back to my living room
>finally wake up
>place where dude took my picture was just a rocking chair
>cat is still asleep at my feet
>bitch was no fucking help at all
>some dude probably got me on the cover of a tabloid in another universe
>>
>Be a couple of years ago
>in sleep paralysis and I can suddenly move
>I can suddenly move but little did i know I wasnt in my fucking body
>I sit up and im like all ghosty and shit and I cough and this black smoke stuff comes out everywhere
>Some invisible guy pushes my head back down and I close my eyes and i open them again and i try to sit up again
>Im in my normal body again when i sit up, my room is completely black and suddenly a ball of lightning starts flying around my room
>its flying around in circles very fast around my room and it goes into one of my lamps and it turns it on, then goes to another lamp
>then after that it just flies out of my window.

Maybe you have never seen them but that facet of the experience really happens occasionally. I don't think it's actually demonic entities, but some primal mechanism in the brain that triggers fear. An archetype of the unknown and harmful that manifests
