I've been starting from stuff as early as I can. Everything leads up to everything else, as far as I'm concerned.

Currently reading both the Malleus Maleficarum and Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy. Will probably move to Paracelsus afterwards.

Fucking this. Nothing like going back to your first read after you finally attain a basic understanding and effectively reading something entirely different.

Alan Moore - Promethea

I first read Stephen Mace's books, then Crowley's and A.O. Spare's (tho not all, since crowley writ tons) and felt this was a good way to approach the subject - Mace uses very simple and straight forward language and really does his best to describe the phenomena as such, whereas both crowley and spare dive deep into the poetic and mystic lingo. As an introduction to modern western magic I think Mace puts it together nicely - kinda like Chaotes without much of the bullshit, also Spare gives credit where it's due - the giants on whom's shoulders he stands (absolutely not just Crowley, influential as he is he's definitely not the top authority in western magic).
TL;DR; Try Stephen Mace

What if one memorizes a whole book?
How are you going to read it again?

If you've already read Magick in Theory and Practice, try reading it again, but only the bold print. You'll need a print edition, obviously, or some facsimile thereof. It's quite interesting.
