Why do I get a feeling of dread whenever I see a slightly open door?
Because you don't know what's on the other side.
It's completely normal, don't worry. It's that fear of the unknown. It's a survival instinct kicking in, and decidedly not paranormal.

Thank you, my mind can finally rest.

But what if its only a certain door in my house?

Have you checked behind it for skellingtons?

Still applies. I get that way about my closet on occasion even though I know all that's in there is some hockey jerseys, pants and old books.
It's a phobia, maybe mixed with OCD. I generally need to have doors either closed completely or open about 1/4 of the way or it bothers me too, though I don't feel dread so much as a feeling I should just close it.

>be you in earlier life
>come home from work
>honey i'm home!
>no answer
>walk up stairs to bedrom
>door is ajar
>hear muffled sounds
>open door
>see dude raping your dead wife
>frozen in fear
>he turns around and plants a axe in your head
>respawns with doorphobia
and that's how that works.
because you didn't set the door to W for WUMBO
