What those people who ventured into the woods saw was nothing more than a barn owl. Their imaginations did the rest, possibly influenced by the image of the character "Commando Cody" (seen above) as depicted in the popular Republic serials "Radar Men from the Moon" and "Zombies of the Stratosphere," both of which were shown in theaters in 1952, the year of the Flatwoods monster sighting.
