Hey all, I'm gonna be in the New Orleans area week after next for a diabetes convention thing.

Does anyone have recommendations for /x/-related or just generally macabre tourist stuff to check out.

Thank you for your time

I found my way into a REAL voodoo ritual during my stay... was halloween/day of the dead weekend a few years ago. It got to be very uncomfortable. Part of it was the heat and the bad B.O. in the room... but the other part was that I felt like an outsider and that I was fuckin up the vibe, by not actually participating or knowing what was going on. They did some weird shit. I am a Mason, so not unfamiliar with ritual and symbolism, but this was out of my league. It was cool, for the experience, I guess. If you just wanna find a grimy place to listen to live music and have a smoke and some drinks... go find "Siberia". Was a cool spot. There was another place, forget the name, but they had a do it yourself tranny stripper party, lolol. Have at it! I saw ghost tours, but they do those in my city and they look lame.

Me again... the creepiest things I saw were the places where they still hadn't rebuilt after the hurricane. There were lots with concrete porches and the bottoms of chimneys, but no house there. There were boarded up apartment complexes that were covered in graffiti, and there were houses still marked by rescue workers indicating body counts and which agency did the check... among other things. Might not be like that now... but I was there WAY after the hurricane and it was still pretty messed up. Hipsters need to hurry up with the gentrification over there. They can leave my city and have NOLA all to themselves. I loved New Orleans though. Have a good time!

Ok. 504 here. Fuck ghost tours and voodoo shops. Walk around late at night by yourself and tell us all if you felt spooped. No dont actually do that, because you will be robbed/killed. The real spooky part of this city is something you cant really explain. There is always a weird vibration in the air, even on sunny, beautiful days. There is a lot of violence and drugs. People are always drunk. Sex is a big thing here(strippers, hookers). Darkness is every where. And it would be easy to see how one could be open to that kind of shit. Oh and the heat of the summer fucks with peoples heads. Anyway, be safe op

Yeah, this. I was shithoused and got bored with what my friends were doing. I went off to the house by myself after midnight no later than 2 or 3 AM, about a 30 min walk, but it took about an hour and a half, If I remember correctly. I vaguely recall interacting with people, but mostly I was focused on looking for familiar landmarks and street names. I totally fucked up and got lost. I think my interactions were probably mainly asking for directions, to people I had probably scoped out, to see if they were decent or not. I was probably creeping the fuck out, but unaware at the time. I was in straight up survival mode, heavily under the influence, and on foot with a gang of cash. Cabs were so hard to get the night before, that the thought to call one never crossed my mind. I woke up in a puddle of puke on my air-b-n-b host's guest futon. I cleaned it the best I could. I offered to pay, he said it's okay, I gave some loot anyway... still feel bad about the whole shit. Anyway... it was pretty spoopy trying to get home to a place I'd only been for 2days, in a city I've never been to, which is creepypasta in it's natural form, normal houses looked haunted, during day of the dead, 3 days after my father passed. He told me not to miss my trip. I saw a bright double shooting star while gazing through the backseat window, head against the glass, on the freeway. It reminded me of my dad. I thought maybe, it was him saying "Hi". I sat up. Literally 3 seconds later a speeding SUV slammed into my door... we went about a foot from a ditch and we went after them. Didn't get a plate, they were swerving so erratically and so fast, that we backed off. The cops were called and when we told them where we were staying, the cop said: "Oh Lord, you all need to be so careful. Why did you get a room there?" LMFAO.

Whoa. Back to the point. Not advisable, but if you want to shit brix, go on a solo trek. Drunk, if you're stupid, like me, sometimes.

I can't say for sure since I moved away before katrina, but, if you go into Houma into the bayou around Big Maw Maw you can find plantations that have been taken over by the swamps. It's just eerie as shit looking. And the cajuns around there have an odd religion of a mixture of voodoo and christianity.

Thats a bad place to be anon. Ive been beat up and shot at in this city. I wish I was trolling, but sadly im not. People get mean as fuck when the need money. And like I said earlier, the heat escalates things even worse. And I absolutely love it. Its entrancing in a way
>>
>>17758268

I mean, thats pretty standard anon. Plenty of great places to eat and drink, all for pretty cheap. Avoid buying drugs or pussy though, unless you know somebody or just have an overall good vibe about them. That sounds retarded, but if youre into that shit you know what i mean. Basically dont fuck with the 20 year old black kids with dreds. Sorry for being /pol/, its just the reality here
