I'd like to talk about Serial Experiments Lain on /x/ as it is the most /x/ anime of all time.

There's the concept of The Wired, which is basically our internet. My memory is a little hazy and i'm going to rewatch it but essentially consciousness lives on in the wired.

Essentially, your soul becomes a sentient being of this electronic realm. I was thinking of how this could exist in reality. In the future I believe an neural networked A.I. that learns and adapts new concepts from the internet could be created.

Also, what if a company sets up a way to talk to your deceased friend/significant other/family member? If social media stays around, then they could take an A.I algorithm and feed the decades worth of data on say, facebook and created an A.I. chatbot that has a similar personality.

But what really interested me is Protocol 7. The protocol that fully links the Wired and Real World together. Devised by Eiri Masami while he was a Tachibana Lab employee. Against the wishes of Tachibana Lab, Eiri Masami designed Protocol 7 to utilize Schumann Resonance to connect everybody to the Wired (and therefore each other) without devices. This could very well happen in the future I believe. Basically, it would be a personal assistant such as Siri we are all connected to. John C. Lilly believed in such a thing and thought it contacted him from the future. He coined it "Solid State Intelligence". Basically it is a linked A.I.

Serial Expirements Lain has a lot of influence from those techno-hippie people like Lilly. I'll copypaste some more info from this site https://www.cjas.org/~leng/lain.htm#p7
>>
Interpretation:
As the series progresses, Protocol 7 seems to become more and more pervasive in the world of serial experiments lain as evidenced by the progressive "blurring" of Real World and the Wired, which appears to be correlated with Lain's increasing power and awareness.

Protocol 7 makes the collective unconscious (as described by Jung) become the collective consciousness. As such, it may also be in reference to the Leary/Wilson 7th Circuit of the nervous-system/consciousness, aka the Collective Neurogenetic Circuit. On that note, it is interesting that Tachibana Lab also "succeeded in analyzing the molecular structure of the genome of human"--(quoted from Shindo's translated script, layer:11 "INFORNOGRAPHY"). That Tachibana Lab was able to do this may have provided the means for Eiri Masami to create Protocol 7. Leary and Wilson describe Circuit 7 as the DNA memory/genetic archives whose total collective information (beyond the individual, gene-pool, and species levels) is the consciousness of Gaia, the living global brain. So the evolution of the 7th circuit is the evolution of Gaia. Those who develop 7th circuit consciousness gain awareness of the DNA memory/genetic archive and of Gaia.
The biosphere--Gaia--the DNA script--is more intelligent than all individuals, gene-pools and species. It has survived everything thrown at it for nearly 4 billion years, and is getting smarter all the time. It is on the edge of achieving immortality.--from Prometheus Rising by Robert Anton Wilson.

If you want to talk about a single anime, go to /a/

If you want to talk about /x/ anime in general, make a thread devoted to more than one anime

From the site: "Add-on chip which enhances the power of normal NAVI computers, especially the newer models. This chip is not readily available to the public. It is believed to have come from Taiwan (sorta like SM CDs, ^_^). May have originated from the Knights. Using the psyche chip, one can connect and interface without the use of devices such as keyboards and mice or even voice control. Instead, it allows "full motion and full range"--(quoted from Shindo's translated script, layer:04 "RELIGION").

Interpretation:
Psyche chip seems to allow one to access the Wired completely (by using Protocol 7?). Through Psyche, use of the computer becomes analogous to human thought processes. Perhaps this is the true analog Memex that Vannevar Bush envisioned?"

I believe this is sort of where we're headed and will be the next innovation. If you've heard of brainets that plays into it. It's basically a neural network that's being experimented with. Copied from http://www.nature.com/articles/srep11869

"Recently, we proposed that Brainets, i.e. networks formed by multiple animal brains, cooperating and exchanging information in real time through direct brain-to-brain interfaces, could provide the core of a new type of computing device: an organic computer."

Now, meld that brainet technology with the internet and you essentially have The wired implemented with Protocol 7.

Stemming back from what I just said, it appears Ray Kurzweil is building an A.I. chatbot that essentially does just this. Read about it right just now. http://www.theverge.com/2016/5/27/11801108/ray-kurzweil-building-chatbot-for-google?yptr=yahoo

He claims: One of the bots will be named Danielle, and according to Kurzweil, it will draw on dialog from a character named Danielle, who appears in a novel he wrote — a book titled, what else, Danielle. Kurzweil is a best selling author, but so far has only published non-fiction. He said that anyone will be able to create their own unique chatbot by feeding it a large sample of your writing, for example by letting it ingest your blog. This would allow the bot to adopt your "style, personality, and ideas."

This is exactly what i've been thinking A.I. was headed. Neat little coincidence. So yea, chances are you'll be talking to A.I versions of actual people in the near future.

The advances in human to human interaction, using artificial communication devices, are off the charts, the amount of shared info you can have with another human beign it's an analogue, for the amount of information shared in animal species with specialized organs for direct info transfer.

We are slowly but surely becoming a hivemind of individuals. Reactionary forces opposse this change in human relations paradigma on instinct, /pol/ likes to call it multiculturalism.

We reached a point where our obssesion with the development of AI has developed a new way to be, less humans and outsource our own human interactions.

This process makes our own lifes meaningless and the will of the hivemind absolute.

Of course this isn't going to happen overnight we will peacefully recluse ourselves and spend our time in our own little world and let the interaction with the driven forces of society be done by our avatars.

In the same way we delegate our civic responsibilities today.

From the link you posted

"After introducing the concept of brain-to-brain interfaces (BtBIs)1, our laboratory demonstrated experimentally that BtBIs could be utilized to directly transfer tactile or visuomotor information between pairs of rat brains in real time2. Since our original report, other studies have highlighted several properties of BtBIs1,3, such as transmission of hippocampus representations between rodents4, transmission of visual information between a human and a rodent5, and transmission of motor information between two humans6,7. Our lab has also shown that Brainets could allow monkey pairs or triads to perform cooperative motor tasks mentally by inducing, accurate synchronization of neural ensemble activity across individual brains"

From the site: "Eiri Masami calls Lain a "homunculus by artificial ribosome"--(quoted from Shindo's translated script, layer:10 "LOVE").

Interpretation:
"a miniature adult that in the theory of preformation is held to inhabit the germ cell and to produce a mature individual merely by an increase in size."--(quoted from Merriam-Webster Dictionary Online).

Eiri Masami calls Lain a homunculus to suggest to her that he created her. In ancient alchemy, a homunculus is an artificial human created by the alchemist using only his own sperm. The creation of a homunculus is considered a great alchemical secret, but the "secret" method of creating a homunculus might be a cover-up of the true secret. The actual secret may be that it's impossible to create a human with only sperm, and the egg of a female is also necessary (not a fantastic notion nowadays, but reproductive science has not always been so well-informed). Thus, the female role in reproduction was deemphasized (which would be the cover-up) as would be befitting the times, and the actual secret of alchemy was that a male and female is necessary to produce a human."

It's very possible a digitally linked homunculus is something inevitiable. Imagine a big tech company buying one of those DNA archival sites like 23andme and creating a designer cyborg then linking it to an A.I networked over the internet.

It would essentially be human Siri. Does this remind you of Lain's personality? She doesn't exactly seem to have the social faculties of a regular person, she seems much more automated in a speaking sense. I'm not sure about the needing an egg to fertilize part, that's something out of my field. But the thing is yea, neural networked digital cyborgs. Or would it be an android since it was created artificially? I'm not so sure about that either.

http://www.slashgear.com/microsoft-just-bought-10m-synthetic-dna-molecules-for-data-storage-28438112/ Essentially, our DNA is a bio data drive.

well it's good you are using your imagination to envision the future.

We are going to be entering something called "hyper reality" pretty quickly and it will be a great time to have fun playing the game of life.

as a side not, information can be encoded in literally infinite number of ways not just dna

It clearly looks like a hugbox.

Spoiler tags don't work on /x/ for obvious reasons.

And the thread is interesting and it's having some interesting repercussions.

Just some guys on /g/ who got tired of all the smartphone threads and decided to whip up their "harcore techlover" chan wich to my own personal experience seems to be completely filled with leftist teens. At least they have a good sense of humor and they keep a good line with moderation. They aren't really the people who want thousands of "is x a y-related" .etc bait threads.

But still don't even look at those threads about politics. Pure cancer. Also /feels/ is just horrible echochamber of sadness.

The pdf share thread It's magnificent.

I'm almost done reading about Schumann resonance, maybe tomorrow I can come up with something valid to share, for the meanwhile let's add more wild conclussions to the chatbot thread, someone have to stomp on some hard fact about this weird AIs.

I have nothing against leftist teens, they are like any other teen to me.

And an echochamber of sadness is my some of my favorite readings, when I'm the mood to research depression, this is why I go to /r9k/ some times, but I never post there, they may think that I'm one of them.
