Yo /x/ I've been curious

To date, what would you say is the best evidence for the paranormal that skeptics still haven't been able to explain? Something that really stumps people or leads to a variety of answers.

Sleep/dreams. Science doesn't fucking know why.
>>
People still believe in it despite centuries of scientific progression and greater understanding of how things work.
>>
>>17729418

NDEs. They say it's just a chemical surge or some shit in the brain despite lack of oxygenated blood, and it'd have no evolutionary purpose.

I don't know mang, I'd think death is pretty fucking stressful
>>
>>17729435

welll, neither does consciousness or self-awareness, really

actually, consciousness is still pretty mysterious to science.
>>
>>17729420
we know animals can dream, too. what they're dreaming of is another story.
>>
>>17729497
Obviously you haven't died before.

These are things that led to an identity which is nothing more than a trait evolved to give us an advantage .

There are a heck of a lot of accounts of ghost sightings.
Many of them can be dismissed as dreams or are from unreliable witnesses (drunks, potheads, criminals). Some can be blamed on infrasound or tricks of light.
Then there are the tougher ones. From people who have good reputations, were sober and awake, and spoke with apparitions. There are too many to lightly suggest that they're all lying.

I believe there probably is something to it.
>>
>>17729536
this seems pretty solid to me too. there's definitely something up.

have you heard of tectonic strain theory? it suggests a lot of ghost/ufo sightings might be hallucinations caused by electromagnetic stuff beneath the surface of the earth, but im not sure if it can explain EVERYTHING.

There's absolutely nothing verifiable.

if it became verified, would it still be paranormal?

i don't think you really can convince someone until they experience it for themselves. or if they just have an interest in it already.

i've been interested in the paranormal my entire life but didn't have any kind of paranormal experiences until i was 23.

>no evolutionary purpose
m8 neither does hair around your anus, or your damn appendix
>>
He's right, NDEs are the big one. there's literally no explanation as to why they occur. the only problem is they're hard to observe, so it's hard to verify their existence with science, which leads most scientists to simply say "lol doesn't exist"

>>17730148
>neither does hair around your anus
it keeps sensitive tissue warm
>your damn appendix
your appendix has limited function but used to be more important
>>
Conciousness itself.

Other univereses.

Gods ( as in godlike entities. Not just Skyman.)

Where humans came from exactly.

>consciousness
Dude, come on. We can get into a discussion about why sentience happens if you want, but I feel like you can do better than that.

>other universes
Of which there is literally no proof or evidence to suggest the existence, or nonexistence, of. It's literally a just a hypothetical scenario. 0-2

>Gods
I see the trend you're going for here. Instead of listing documented phenomena that seem to have no rational explanation, yet still occurred, you're listing fun little "what ifs" that literally cannot be proven or disproven by any empirical means, who's existence is only present because we are able to imagine it. 0-3 kid

>where humans came from
WELL HERE WE GO, the ONLY question you've provided that has some substance to it, and even still it's anything but unique. I'll give you that one point. I expect more creative thinking from someone who uses a tripcode on an anonymous imageboard for no other reason than to call attention to oneself. I'll be waiting for a heated response, impress me, junior.

>>
>>17729420
Science fucking knows.
Sleep is needed to recover and regenerate the body (sleep deprivation in rats quickly cause various disorders).
Dreams are just a side effect of brain getting internal nerve signals instead of external and trying to interpret it.
>>
Most of the strangest phenomena occurs in dark abandoned places, that are scary on itself.

Most normies don't go there cause they're scary places, if you go there you are automatically a wacko, therefore are discredited before hand.

This make the search for evidence harder and the people that search for the evidence, get a bad rep.

The fact that the paranormal community has get into muddy places with classified information, doesn't help at all.

>>17729602
I have seen the eartquake lights, cause I live and very quaky place and they don't explain nothing besides eartquake lights and some strange noises, but every quake that sounds also moves the ground.

>>17729620
It won't be paranormal anymore it will be science realm, those bastards want it all.

>>17730260
List something then.

You have interesting refutals but no OC.

I have a serious neurologic doubt about this, but I won't scare nobody until I have made my research.

Ok, let`s contribute to a thread.
For example, placebo effect. I don`t think it was fully explained. But it works so well that medicine tests have to account for it (and no, placebo meds still probably won`t treat your cancer).

RF resonant cavity thruster (or EmDrive).
Shouldn`t work, but still provides some thrust.

Bloop. While it`s probably not Ctulchu, its origin is still unknown, AFAIK.

Personal experience makes people self fuck themselves.

Gonna tell you my story.

>Saw supernatural stuff
>Start believing, start experimenting with religions
>go eastern religions, horrible results, move away
>try bible as literally as I can, inital result seemed good and there seemed to be feedback by an invisible power, but signs started to be contradictory and shit started to get ugly.
>I even got interned in a mental hospital for doing fucking nothing and stayed there for a month
>Time passes, I do something very stupid, even attack people violently
>Interned again, little time after being interned, I pray the following to God: I don't know your law nor your Crhist, please send me somebody, aslo as I don't know your law, haven't been given it yet, I conclude that I cannot be imputed of sin
>Instant release from the mental hospital
>since then, people seem really really rused and angry at me for some reason, as if a little bit of the bible were true and most of mankind were demons.
>People will contrantly sneer at me for no reason over the internet over the most inane things.

And even in real life, I just caught my doctor doing this:

1. Catch skin infection.
2. Catch teeth infection.
3. Go to doctor.
4. Receive initially a dosage proper, but he interrupts treatment clearly before it is fully healed claiming I just needed to walk (this is an obv lie, I still need the meds for the teeth).
5. Skin regrows the infection, go to doctor, but receive small and afar dosages of meds, clearly not enough for both infections.
6. They interrrupt treatment to put myself back in the initial antibiotic which of course does fucking nothing anymore since the bacteria grew immune.

Oh wow, why is this so suspicious of deliberate malpractice? Giving clearly not enough meds and meds they know should be useless by now?

Ofc, I'm going to take measures.

Bloop is (most likely) explained
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloop
>The sound was consistent with the noises generated by icequakes in large icebergs, or large icebergs scraping the ocean floor, but in 2002 was said to also be consistent with large marine animals.
>NOAA believes it has now analyzed it conclusively and the noise was ice-related.

>>17730398
And to make things worse, they know that exposing bacteria to antibiotics and not fully healing it makes them immune, they would not be doctors if they never knew this.

I think most people that have studied the occult don't try to convince skeptics. Much of the paranormal isn't something you can catch on video or sound. I am in a haunted apartment but the spirit haunting it doesn't come out flipping plates and slamming doors when I have company. The spirit was silent while my roommate lived here but before and after, she's made her presence known. Just my input , most people will need "proof" but it's not that easy to show or give

This is your doctor trying not to overuse antibiotics as proscribed very vaguely by some larger medical authority and very vaguely agreed upon by whatever company actually employs him. He's been given no specific instructions on what he can or can't do with this knowledge because it would be illegal for his employer to limit or meter his proscriptions and economically counterproductive for them to questions his diagnoses since he was hired to make them accurately in the first place.

I had an ear infection that wouldn't go away for a month, every medication I was given did nothing. I was eventually referred to actual otolaryngologist who expressed frustration with non-specialist doctors doing this, she gave me a sample sized container of real antibiotics for free and my infection went away in 3 days. According to subsequent hearing testing I lost 20% of my hearing in that ear. Legal action is pending and the otolaryngologist is on my side because she's sick of seeing people with permanent damage caused by long-lasting but easily cured infections.

Remind your doctor that if you are permanently damaged by an infection he could have prevented from damaging you in any way, shape or form that you can and will sue him.
