The skin walker and the wendigo are very similar beings with both being immortal bad spirits that have became what they have from what they have done in their lives.. typically desiring more power in medicine or killing a family member or one of your tribe.. sorry that i am getting off topic but I have had experience with the wendigo and I recommend that you DO NOT try to kill the creature.
In ojibwe teachings killing a wendigo will cause it to come back for your stronger which you can kill it again. but the third time you cannot kill it and it will take your life.
What I recommend is that you put asema out to a tree and pray for protection to whatever you believe in. also if you have sage i recommend you smudge your house. starting from the west door of your house starting in the east and ending in the west as in the sun. this is what i recommend you do..
