Is there a way we can read the i ching off of a post number?
I think that would be a nice way to mix up the various fortune telling threads on /x/
obviously, just using 6 numbers won't works, since most of the numbers won't change post to post... Any ideas?
what, you got something better to do?
Use last six numbers, odd numbers broken lines, even numbers solid lines... but you'd have to do it on a faster board, /x/ is too slow.
/tg/'s dice roller will help.
There are 8 trigrams so you could use the last 2 numbers but i don't know what you'd do about 0 and 9.

Won't work. Read OP's post.

He introduced me to the iching as well. Crazy (true) story that involves aliens, phil dick, valice, theodynamics and rotten.com.
Once of those starts align deals. I use the iching very often now, the Sage is inexhaustible.
last two digits of three posts in a row?

wait, this guy is onto something... there are 64 hexagrams so you could use the last two numbers and if they're higher than 64 you could somehow convert it to less than 64 (i.e. subtract it from 100)
does this work or am i being retard?

Use the timestamp as well. Last three numbers of post time and post number should change enough to give you the randomn-yet-connected-to-poster you desire.

So that one was 244756
>>17708302
2945302
>>17708285
707285
>>17708263
125263

752251
The sampling from this thread seems varied enough.

Treat the last 2 digits as a decimal, multiply by 64 and round to the nearest integer? Eg your post 64x.02=1.28 =1, Ch'ien / The Creative
I think >>17708756 is the best idea though
