Actually, was your volume set too high? My computer has been making this loud screech noise but only when the volume is set too high and I unplug the headphones from the jack. Are you having that problem?

Could be an error code. Sometimes your computer will emit loud beeps in a certain rhythm to tell you what part of your computer might be fucked.

First try rebooting it.
