My grandfather told me a in credibly creepy story about his time in WW2. Basically he and his unit were exchanging fire with the enemy in north africa, and were sheltered inside a truck depot, one of his friends said he had to do something, and ran out into open fire towards the land outside. He was seen getting something off the ground, and then walking back in slowly but directly.
He came back in, having been shot multiple times, and sat down next to my grandfather, and said "It's okay, right here." and immediately died. He'd gone out to get a little box he'd apparently dropped. like a little decorative cigar case.
