Another useful method if still uncertain and unable to rely on your own sense of what is the correct path, go by whatever explanation sounds most novel or is expressed with the most authority, you could even find a magical group or guru to command you to use a certain method.
Methods personally past on from an authority figure have more weight usually, not due to them being objectively better but the effect it has on your personal beliefs, expectations and ideas of what is possible.

I m not this anon, but I d like to ask you question. I consider myself pretty open minded but I start to think about meditation not so long ago. So, I tried to sit and quiet mind, it was extremely difficult as you said. Then I tried to lay on bed, in thar position I almost immidiately feel kinda vibrating start from my leg goes upper, and with that feel I couldn't stay still anymore. Not sure how to describe it, I periodically got this vibrating feeling earlier even without meditation. What it is? I ll be very appriciate if you answer. If you have that feeling and you need to move your legs and if you flex your muscles or move your legs and it feels better then you have restless leg syndrome. Try to eat less sugar and drink less coffee but mostly you can just get used to it and love with it.
