I grew up in a "haunted" house. Lived there for 10 years.
Years later I saw a "person" run through my house who wasn't there seconds later. There was evidence of them actually being there (it closed a door), so I know it was real.

From what I've seen from Mortis the Wizard (youtube him) videos, you gotta prepare yourself mentally if you want them to talk to you in a more profound way. He's done it outside but his bests recordings are from halls or his own bedroom. Also he's kinda insightful and respectful of "spirits" and their "answers". He tries not to get deceived or tempted.
