>happy appy

sometime around december 2012 someone on here posted an address on the deep web claimed he had an episode of happy appy for sale

it was up for a few weeks but no one bought it, so he said that he'd give it away for free for anyone who showed any interest, a few days later the link froze

I'm 100% sure it was a scam, still wonder what would happen if anyone fell for it

To be cool you can't be criticized by your peers, so you can't LIKE something that gets laughed at. So NEVER post something and say you like it, then it -will- be criticized, this is 4chan. Only post stuff and say you do NOT like it. Then you're safe, laughing at others so others don't laugh at you.

jeff the killer. they turned what used to be a pretty unsettling image that floated around from thread to thread to a bad micheal meyers knock off.

any character driven creepypasta (besides skinwalkers, those are pretty tight) like the rake tends to follow the same formula. slenderman went down that path once the video game came out and everyone wanted a piece of that lets play action. early era marble hornets is still great, though.

There was some pasta on the creepypasta wiki that I think got featured because cleric of madness wanted to show off how bad it sucked, it was about a sniper in Russia during WWII that was essentially an early 2000s scene kid.
I also thought that the abandoned McDonalds was laughably bad, there's no way it was legit.
I was actually scared by happy appy, because I was younger when I read it. I read the first half in the dark, so that helped.

>A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there lived a man named James. James loved finding creepy .exe and .avi stuff on the computer. One day, James came across something called “James.exe,” and decided to open the file. It opened and showed him, mirroring his every movement. Things got weirder. On the .exe file, James face began to melt. It soon just became his skull. This freaked out James, remembering that it mirrored his every move. He felt his face and felt skin, so he closed the .exe file and went to bed. The next day, James woke up in a puddle of his own melted skin and had no face. James soon died.

that vid reminded me that I saw the Acid Face Jeff story posted on here a couple of times back in late '08 and mid '09

I remember it slightly

>the guy in the pic's name is jeff
>wanna know how he got like this?

if someone replied the author would post 4-5 paragraphs explaining that he fell into the bathtub and acid splashed into his face and fell unconscious, he was home alone at the moment and his body wasnt found until 10-11 (idr) AM, he then was rushed into the hospital. there he lost his sanity for whatever reason and that night killed his entire family (something which happens in the 2011 JtK story)

hopefully this will trigger a few peoples memories

Since Jeff the Killer is being brought up a lot in this thread, can we talk about the new rewritten version up on the creepypasta wiki right now? Because it's really not much better. Not only is it pretty much the exact same story with a fresh coat of paint, it's also unnecessarily long and dreadfully boring, while at the same time being much too tryhard and edgy. And what the fuck is with trying to make Jeff an empathetic character when he's a fucking serial killer? They are trying way too hard to make Jeff justified in what he's doing and that, along with how much we know about him, makes him not scary. I don't understand why they would accept this as the best Jeff the Killer rewrite when it stumbles into the exact same fundamental pitfalls the original falls into, the most glaring of which is letting the audience inside the mind of a serial killer. That is not what makes serial killers scary or, just as importantly, interesting. What makes Jeff the Killer interesting in the vast history of serial killers? His fucked up face? His age? Jeffery Dahmer poured acid into the frontal lobe of one of his victims to try and make him into zombie slave, then killed him and added him to his skeleton shrine. That's scary and bizarre and so interesting, but if I wrote something like that in a world where Jeffery Dahmer didn't exist, it would be written off as too tryhard and edgy, it only holds weight because it's real. Most serial killer pastas have no place on the wiki because if you decide to flesh out their character and not keep them mysterious, it is impossible to make them scary. I've seen a handful of pastas where the killer is a nameless, faceless force of nature for our main character and the pasta is infinitely better for it. But because the story is called Jeff the Killer, we just have to know everything about the guy, and no fresh coat of paint is going to make that not sound fucking stupid. Fuck Jeff the Killer, fuck every incarnation of it.
>>
>>17659087
Little preteens are too blame for this. (Or worst, grown-ass adults who don't know shit.) There are groups of readers/writers who thing gore=horror, when that isn't exactly true. Gore is gross and can make something pretty freaky, but it's not interesting story telling in the least. These readers/writers assume if they can add in as many gross things as possible it will make it so scary.

Then there are the people who get a crush on the character. This is a whole mess. They want someone edgy and dangerous, but they are children (or, again, adults with problems). They don't know what makes a good character. They don't know good story telling. and there are people out there who can't just like a thing, they have to make it a love or sexual interest. and it's just like, why? Why man? C'mon.
>>

>>
>>17659103
That's even fucking worse because Jeff the Killer isn't even gore porn. He just fucking stabs people, not even like a lot of people, just his family. And, man, don't even get me started on the people who have a thing for Jeff, that could occupy another 500 character post. The absolute worst part of the new story is the fact that it is enabling those kinds of people to keep up that behavior by making Jeff entirely sympathetic. "Oh, my serial killer husbando isn't evil, he's just misunderstood" Fuck you.

>>
>>17660540
Yeah there was one really simple, really short story that kinda gave me chills.

It's like a guy is at home alone in his house that's out in the middle of the country, he's washing dishes in the kitchen sink late in the evening when's it's really dark during the winter, when he looks up from the dishes through the large window above his sink he sees a large hairless unnatural looking dog creature with big eyes, luminous in the night. He can just barely make out its emaciateddog body in the dark country field outside the house, he's scared motionless at the sight and he's trying not to breathe. The creature cranes it's neck to look at him through the window into his well lit kitchen, it turn its neck in a twitchy pained manner. They lock eyes for what feels like forever, it bares it's large teeth at him. It snaps onto its hind legs and runs out of view.

Then there's the obligatory, I LOCKED ALL THE DOORS AND RAN UPSTAIRS WAITING FOR SOMEBODY TO COME HOME moment which kills the simplicity, but it was spooky enough for a reddit story.
>>

Ok so as it turns out, plot twist, the OC story is really shit and nothing like I remember it being, my version is better. Weird how we remember things wrong?

One evening I was at my house alone. I was hungry so I got up and went to the kitchen to make something to eat. I didn't have any clean bowl so I decided to just clean all the dishes. There is a large window above my sink that looks out to my car and behind it the forest. As I was washing the dishes I looked up and saw a coyote beside my car. It locked eyes with it and stood there staring at if for what seemed like eternity. Then it stood up and walked away on two legs exactly like a human would walk. My friends say it was probably a small bear but it looked exactly like a coyote. I spent the rest of that night away from windows.
>>
Objectively the worst: Jeff the Killer.
Because it doesn't try to follow the traditional creepypasta formula, it doesn't even pretend to try to be scary, hell, it doesn't even try to redeem itself with gore for cheap shock value. It's a textbook example for what is not a creepypasta.

Criminally Underhated: Laughing Jack (and the shitty prequel).
Over the top gore story with a yaoi monster character written by a twenty-something trying his hardest to establish himself as a meme. I can't really blame him for exploiting the teenage edgy girl crowd on dA for free tits, he should still be ashamed for being such an edgelord.

Nosleep is mostly utter shit, I agree. Penpal got really fucking bad towards the end and those stories about the bitch holding an orange were ennui incarnate.

The recent series about the forest ranger and the crazy shit he sees on the job are fucking fantastic, though. Gems like that are worth digging through shit for.

I know the one you're talking about, it doesn't go much further than that. It's pretty much a glorified ritual pasta, "Don't ride the train all the way to the end of the line or else you'll wind up in the multiverse." There also wasn't really any payoff, just the standard "If you ever see what I saw, don't do what I did because life is eternal suffering for me now"

There were actually a few great stories that came from r/nosleep. But now they're just laughably shitty.

To make things even worse the subreddit has this rule where you have to pretend the story is real in the comments, no matter how fake and stupid the story is. You're basically forced to roleplay. It's cringey as fuck.

It's an easy answer, but Clockwork: Your Time Is Up is probably the worst creepypasta ever written. It isn't even like so bad that it's funny. It's just this mary sue self insert fantasy bullshit with every fucking bullying and abusive family revenge killing cliche thrown in.

If I'm going for a less obvious answer, I'd probably say that Arizona one. It reads like the writer was shitfaced drunk when they wrote it because it just kind of skips from topic to topic without dwelling on anything long enough for it to mean anything and the whole thing just kind of blends together into nonsense.

I fucking hate deep web stories, the only good one was the original "Normal Porn For Normal People" creepypasta. I dont even think the website in the story was on the deep web. Because the deep web wasn't a big fucking meme back then.

The reason it worked was because it was somewhat subtle in its approach, no stupid redroom shit, no spoopy elite hackers, no having the main characters address/ip being tracked or losing control of the cumputer.

You can tell the people who write most of these stories have never been to the deepweb, and I always see faggots basing their knowledge of the deep web off these shitty pastas. They think the deep web is actually some horrifying CP/snuff/hitman littered fun house. When in reality you REALLY have to look if you want to find that stuff, its just not lying out there in the open. Most people just use it to buy drugs.
Source: Used to use it to buy drugs.

I don't use Reddit very often, but one of the few times I went there was when a friend of mine linked me the orange lady story, parading it as "really fucking creepy". Honestly, it was one of most boring online stories I've ever read.

I liked the forest ranger series when it wasn't going on about the staircases. I like how it actually felt like real people were giving actual accounts of weird shit happening. My favourite part was with the firefighter and that kid up in that super tall tree.

>>17659070
What's annoying is that most of the people who are really into deep web tales don't really have a firm grasp on what it is, writers can use this to their advantage and write some really strange, creative stuff. Instead we get the same gory/CP nonsense over and over again.

The D57 Package

The contents of the following letter has been sent to both the local police department and the newspaper of the locality.

You cannot describe my actions as appropriate, but I can only blame my own curiosity and cowardice for that, for this reason understand the words in this letter as a testimony at the same time as a confession.

It all started last week, one morning of Wednesday, when I found what I could describe to the naked eye as a small package, completely wrapped in gray paper, at first I thought the package of no more than 10 centimeters was a parcel sent by my distant family, but it was not sent to anyone in particular, on the contrary only had written a mailing address on a small label, the address was identical to mine, except for the department number, which belonged to my neighbor, despite the strangeness of the situation, did not think much about it and just put the package in front of my neighbor’s door, hoping that he could possibly find it later.

The next day I met up again with a new package in front of my door, I told myself about the ineptitude of the mail system to be wrong a second time, this time, the package was larger, about 30 centimeters, with the same direction and nameless receiver, a detail that caught my attention was that it had been marked on an edge with the code "T68", as with the previous package, I decided to leave it on the front door of my neighbor, this time I try to inform him of the situation and avoid this happening again, unfortunately my knocks at his door received no response.

1/?
>>
>>17663621

2/?

The third day to find a package in front of my door, I decided to take it with me and give it to the janitor at the entrance of the departments, for him to do the delivery and talk to the postman to avoid this morning nuisance, this package was much smaller, could ensure that was no bigger than a mason jar, perhaps even it was, was marked with the code "X92" and unlike other packages, this generated a strange feeling of disgust, when take it closer to the face could feel an unpleasant scent of what I can only describe as lavender and copper, which stuck in my hands and I could not take off until later that day; When talking to the janitor about this annoying situation, he only could assure me that my neighbor could not answer during the day, since he worked night shifts and yesterday I found him sleeping soundly. He assure me that if he found the messenger of these packages, he would be informed of his mistake.

The fourth day I found no package on my front door, at first I thought it was all over, if not because that night a horrible insomnia attacked me, this was caused by the unpleasant smell that I described earlier, at first I thought were the residual scent that were impregnated in my hands, to the point of bathing repeatedly that night to remove the smell, but it was very persistent and intense, did not take long to realize that the smell did not come from my department, this actually came from one of my walls, especially the one I shared with the neighbor who received these packages, my only theory was that he had obviously received the one from yesterday and now it is reviewed meticulously, I was able to go back to sleep thanks to light a incense in the room far away from the department of my neighbor, maybe it was in dreams or semi-conscious thoughts that I noticed a small detail, how it was possible that my neighbor could review the contents of that package at night if he worked only on night shifts.
>>
>>17663210
i figured they were joking
its common to know that back in the day mankind was refered to as just "man" right?
>>
>>17663624
3/
The fifth day I found two packages, one medium sized and another very small, this time curiosity got the best of me, introduced both packages to my home and check them carefully, the largest one had the code "A56", when open I only found a series of medical devices, from gloves to a series of scalpels, the smallest one was labeled "D57", it only brought a small syringe and a vial of liquid unlabeled also the syringe came wrapped in a small message that did not understand at the time "for those who receive it, use it properly", when finished reviewing these tools, a feeling of regret came over me, I decided that this time they would be delivered to the addressee directly, I when to the door of his apartment and knock gently, to my surprise the door was open, actually his plate had been forced and now it cannot be closed.

Upon entering I could feel the unpleasant scent of lavender, this time felt almost diluted, entering the living room, I felt an abandoned room, much of the furniture seemed untouched for many months, unlike the carpet which appeared to have been constantly moved in recent days possibly something common in a person who works at night and only sleep during the day, the door to his room was locked from the inside, as if the person who lived there wanted to hide or be left alone, something very strange for somebody who was known to live alone, called his name through the door, but no one answered, all I heard was the sound of water, a sound like overflow by leaving open a faucet for a long time, I went to the bathroom where the sound came, I could feel the putrid smell of lavender intensified, opening the door I found no open faucet, but rather the source of the unpleasant odor,

, I cannot describe in words how I felt or what I saw, but I can only assume that before me was a man of indeterminable age, naked barely protruding from a tub filled with a repellent compound of orange color with reddish spots, with dead eyes staring at the ceiling, his mouth open on a face in the process degradation, the horrible smell forced me to throw up in the sink, could not believe the horrible scene I was seeing.

I cannot explain my actions, I can only ensure that the shock of the situation clouded my reasoning, I draw the small syringe from my pocket, broke the vial and prepare the injection, with my trembling hand I injected the compound in what was once his chest and was now only a clumped mass decomposing, to take effect the injection what remained of the body began to shake gelatinously before being diluted in the contents of the tub, without thinking twice I escape, cursing my curiosity and thanking my cowardice.

At the time this letter is being read, I already found myself leaving the city, I don’t do it for my physical safety, but rather for my own mental health, since there was a detail that will torment me for the rest of my days, at the time of injection, those revolting dead eyes looked directly at me and even if his jaw was fused to his torso I could see in his eyes a cry, a cry of pain and agony that I can only translate as
"Help me...

... I'm still alive. "

End.

I love his sarcastic writing style, it feels like he treats the reader as an adult person and not some hyperactive teen. He also manages to make the most tiredly overused premises seem fresh (like video game pastas), he doesn't give a shit if it's believable or realistic, thats what makes him one of the few mature creepypasta writers.

The first two Disney parts were fresh, it was spooky to see something as strictly-flawless as Disney resorts going downhill and turning into something hellish. The third part was almost as stupid as fanfictions about, I liked it more when it was open to interpretation.

Eh, I don't think age has been kind to it. It was certainly new when it came out, but rereading it now kind of shows how shlocky it is.

Plus, is "hyper realistic" even a term or is it meaningless garbage?
>>
>>17666421
Hyperrealism is actually a real term in art, but it doesn't apply to moving pictures, that would be photorealism. But photorealistic doesn't sound as cool as hyperrealistic. Like can you imagine Hyper Galaxy Gurren Lagann being Photo Galaxy Gurren Lagann? Just sounds silly.
>>
>>17666335
In the story he's a bad boy. He's very edgy, is an outcast, and delinquent. That alone gets their panties wet. But to top it all off, he turns into a serial killer, and you know how some women just can't get enough of serial killers. Some say it's because it appeals to that primal need for a man who dominates and slays others, others say it's a phase, or even a kink. Whatever the case may be, being a serial killer seals the deal for them. And as an added bonus, Jeff's deformity, while disgusting and unsettling in real life, loses all of it's spookyness in fanarts, because it stops being uncanny valley because it's just a drawing. Infact, it looks even """cute""" in a sort of exotic way. Just look at pic related. It doesn't carry the same weight of the original picture.
>>
>>17648540

>>
>>17663576
It wasn't reeeally 9/11, but I remember it was something fucking stupid and didn't make any sense, and yeah, he fought some cultists who were copycats/disciples of the real killer or some retarded shit like that. What always gets me is how Richard D James makes a cameo in a Happy Appy episode early in the pasta. That just comes out of fucking nowhere and serves no purpose in the story. The guy who wrote it was probably an Aphex Twin fan and shoehorned in Richard and the Donkey Rhubarb bears as a sort of terrible hamfisted homage.
Also, I think there's a part where the main character finds a lost happy appy game(of fucking course he does), and that's where I stopped reading I think, because it's fucking stupid.
