It's real, for one thing. If you get good enough you will be able to join an actual organization.
But it's more or less required that you know telepathy. You could maybe get by without it but you'd miss out on a lot.

I started trying to communicate with spirits of dead people.
I can to some degree pick up what people around me are thinking about, but most of the time they are too confused for it to make any sense.
A message sent from a telepathy practitioner is different. It will appear as one of your thoughts, but it will not be your own thinking. Learning to recognize the difference is necessary, otherwise you will dismiss anything as your own stray thoughts.

I basically did the same as some psychics I saw do it on tv. Reaching out and relaxing etc. Meditation is a good start. You can probably find something on youtube.
