My city has abandoned subway tunnels that are really easy to access. There is also a abandoned insane ward but they always close off the way to get in when I try to go.

Actually this, but it was just a tiny local one and the only building was the lift shack. Nothing interesting happened.

I live on long island and when I stayed at home for college my first year me and my friends would love exploring this stuff.
pictures is the pilgrim state power plant which is the smaller of the 3 abandoned psych centers of the island
Ive spent days of exploring these places at night from hanging out on the roof fo exploring the tunnels running underneath
Kings park psych hospital
Pilgram state psych hospital
and Creedmoor psych center
By far creedmoor was the spookiest and kings park is the biggest but Ive had a lot of fun days hanging out on the roof of this powerplant

The old smith county historical building next to the new library is neat too there's a secret library with various lost files and strange books
Across the street there's an old antique shop where a man I knew was murdered and the Spanish church which used to be boys and girls club with even more "storage"

What was so great about it? It looks like it could have been a stand in for House on Haunted Hill
Southern Illinois University
Building 207
aka Sunset Haven
originally known as Jackson County Poor Farm
closed in 1957
>>17613958
Any stories about it?
Central State Hospital in Indianapolis. This place confirmed my belief and fascination with spirits.

I went through it a few times, once at night which was of course, infinitely more terrifying.
A lot of college students would build fires outside and spend the night, or at least until the police came.
Nothing besides the occasional weird noise, doors creaking, happened while I was there. There was a lot of medical equipment strewn about.
What's interesting about this place to me is it's history.
It was built in 1930 to house transients, the elderly, alcoholics, mentally-ill, etc. Known as a 'poor farm'.
"A superintendent and his family would look after the residents while the residents earned their keep by farming the land, if they were able. Most of these institutions closed down when our modern welfare system came into maturity."
In the 1940s it was converted to a nursing home, known as Sunset Haven.
A pauper's cemetery exists behind the building, marked by indentations in the dirt.
"The Jackson County Historical Society has a list of 86 people known to be buried at Sunset Haven Cemetery, marked only by weeds strangling the depressions. The dates of burial range from 1878 to 1946. Next to the names of the dead are brief descriptions reading things like Black, Civil War, Widow and Idiot."
Later in the 1970's, the name was changed again to 'Vivarium Annex', where it's said the University conducted animal research (the location is right next to the school's pig farm). And then abandoned in the late 80's.
>>17614073
>cemetary on the grounds
>former nursing home
>building where animal research (experimentation) was held
Yep, I bet it's haunted
>>17614146
yeah, you definitely get that feeling
the area around it is so rural
all you hear are birds, and the wind blowing
but the air in and around this place is so thick.
Dense, is the only way to explain it.
>>17614358
It looks like it, if the air is thick no matter what then I would say definitely
Woah...Was not expecting to get this many replies/comments, thanks guys

been to one too actually. Out in Western Mass. It was a ski resort and water park on the side of a mountain. Here's one of the better pics I have from the main lodge.
Been to a bunch of places in New England and of late also a few spots in Europe. One of my favorite's near me is Fort Wetherill in Rhode Island. Used to be a coast guard base and mining facility then a POW camp. Pretty huge area with tons of tunnels to explore. I've got a blog with more of my stuff on there if anyone's curious. http://worcesterurbanexplorers.tumblr.com/

forgot to post a pic from Wetherill here it is.
