I'll start.
During the "activation ritual" burning your finger just enough that it hurts like a mother, while imagining you sigil and invoking the purpose of it can be really useful, because the intense feeling of pain transforms into "magick". Also I found that it's a somewhat euphoric pain, if it makes any sense.
I'm new to all this sigil stuff and I'd like to know how does that work exactly. Could anyone explain?

The main principle is basically "breaking" your usual way that the mind works and using that to your advantage.
You associate the sigil with its purpose, and the point is trying to push it through your subconscious into the "system".
It works with the same principle as most other chaos magick, and the sigil itself is a sort of crutch.

Meditation can be pretty useful in the first part where you define the job of the sigil, and before the activation as well.

After the sigil is active, it's best to avoid thinking about it and let synchronicities do the job. If you feel like that it's working by small coincidences, acknowledge it, but don't dwell on it too much. It can interrupt and slow down the process
How does one know what they are actually summoning by using these sigils? For all we know it could be a sigil used for a different purpose than what it's labeled.

I always place focus on the design of the sigil, making it very simple and never actually drawing it out until it's done.
Then I go outside and draw it on the dirt road. It has always been effective instantly. After the effect has shown, (I feel something, like a distant gong or a wind in my head) I erase the sigil at once and leave the place.
I'll then bring the "effective part" with me and do the rest at home.
I think the determining factor is to know 100% that the sigil will achieve what you intended before you draw it. That means designing it only as a mental image before use.

From a theoretical standpoint (treating it like that now because you're n00bs) it's a form of communication.
It can attract the attention of spirits, and the design determines what you communicate to them. Correctly done it can even trap or overpower strong spirits and control things in the world.
Assuming the idea of everything being controlled by spirits is true, you can do anything.
An illness is a spirit, so (I have not done this) it should be possible to treat an illness by drawing a sigil and luring the spirit out of the body and trapping it or forcing it away. For example of possibilities.

If you want a more pop culture representation of how sigils work, you can check out the anime "myriad colors phantom world" (musaigen no phantom world), it has a lot of scenes where sigils are used and it's pretty correct for being an anime.

Sigils are like heiroglyphs, mandalas, alphabets.
They are meant to hold the geometry and power of stars or planets. The sigil will act as a vehicle of power/energy if done correctly

The hardest part for me is forgetting or not thinking about the sigil or my intent. It seems like the more power you dump in these things the harder that gets. Any advice on that?

I usually forget the sigil at once because I spent only like 1 hour making it and only drew it once.
Try not making it too complicated, research the context you will use it in a lot, then you dont need to think alot about the sigil itself, it will come naturally.
Make a new sigil every time, unless it's a "standing spell" that you want to keep using daily.

Goetic seal of Sitri, typically used for getting laid or something similar. Really fuckin bad idea because nobody who uses it for that is gunna bother with the proper preparation outlined in the Greater Key, or even accompany it with the bindings, so you're better off making an offering to a godform. They're far less likely to want to hang around and they're rarely vindictive. Hell, for that matter, go find s nymph grove or something and accept an offered starter piece for an amulet, adorn it with fertility shit, and keep it under your mattress or in a front pocket.

Pain shouldn't be what invokes the connections in you. This stuff should be practiced from a place where love makes that connection.
I've looked everywhere, fucking everywhere, and I can't find the source of this one. Hell, it might not be a sigil at all, but I strongly believe it is one.
Can any of you identify this sigil? The one on the left.
The seal on the right is Lucifer's Seal, and the small character on the center far-right of the circle is the closest thing I've found that resembles the unknown sigil.

These magic square generated sigils are how we get so many of the symbols we associate with certain demons or other entities. Though they'd sometimes use 'squares' of other design. ( see image for example )

Regarding this, is there any "best" way to make a sigil? I was thinking of using the "write a sentence, omit repeated letters, stick them together" method (without the removal of vowels).
Also, when using a magic square, are there set magick squares to choose from that are related to certain attributes (e.g. knowledge, wealth, luck, love, etc.)?
