What is it /x/?
Pic related, object in question
it's a thermal blanket that was released from the International Space Station during STS-88

if you look at the other photos, it's more obvious that it's a tumbling, flat, highly reflective object (aka a thermal blanket)

Oh... Well, shit. Thanks, anon

No one knows. What I want to know is where they get 13,000yrs from. It's also fascinating that it was discovered in a polar orbit before we had the ability to put a satelite in that type of orbit. It is also emitting a timed radio frequency broadcast that supposedly Tesla picked up? Trippy stuff.

could you explain in simple words what a thermal blanket is or what is used for?
>>17562775
there's absolutely no connection between the picture of a thermal blanket that OP posted and the aberrant radio signals picked up by Tesla. The thing about 13,000 yrs is clearly just made up from nothing... good luck finding any source on that arbitrary made up number

A thermal blanket, also known as a "space blanket", are highly efficient blankets made out of extremely thin and light heat reflecting plastic. You can purchase them from outdoors stores because they're popular backpacking/survival equipment. These things are insanely efficient, they look light but they will keep you warm like you wouldn't believe. The main benefit of these blankets on a space ship is their light weight.

I've done some additional research, and it seems that specifically this was not a "human" thermal blanket, but some of the same sort of material attached to the outside of the International Space Station (you can see some here in this pic). During docking, one of the pieces came dislodged and fell into orbit
I'm glad I was able to find this, because it was bugging me how the fuck a normal thermal blanket would get outside the ship.

none of that is true. it was made up in some 1950s sci-fi publication. it gets repeated on the internet by autists

Swamp balloons or weather gas. Pretty obvious
Swamp gas trapped in a weather balloon that reflected the light from Venus.
