Hey fellow robots! (and other boards.) I made this thread yesterday and it was pretty popular. So drop in, share a story or pic and if you're close to the 44077 area and want to explore with us, leave an email!

I also saw quite a few people that were urbex virgins that wanted to start doing it but weren't sure how to. That got me thinking. My friend and I have been pursuing this hobby since we were around 11 years old. We are 22 now and still going strong! We talked it over and we decided that we want a solid crew of likeminded people to urban explore with us.

We know of dozens and dozens of places that we have explored already and hundreds more that we haven't! So to get this rolling, we are looking for people 18+ (Most of our treks take place in the middle of the night and the last thing we need is someone underage getting busted for curfew.) You have to be in shape. We are not looking for 300 pound spergs. I'm not trying to offend anyone here, it's just that we hike for miles and miles in pretty rough terrain to get where we are going and I know overweight people probably can't do that. Another must is that you know the risks or urban exploration.

Methheads/cops/getting hurt on site/tresspassing are some of the dangers. I personally have never had issue with any police and have never seen any homeless people/methheads on site.

We are located in the 44077 area of Painesville, Ohio and do most of our exploration within 80 miles with some exceptions. So if you really want to start urban exploring and you fit the criteria and live close, please fill this out.

>Age
>Area code
>Email address (throwaways are fine, I just need to be able to contact you.

And that's it! Urban exploration is one of the best hobbies out there for the modern day explorer. You get to go to places that haven't had human contact in a long time. You learn some history about the places you go. I really look forward to hearing from you guys! Hopefully we can get a r9k urbex group going!

Very interesting idea. I'm an urbex virgin who's always been fascinated by the idea. Wish I lived closer.

any frenchfags here go into the off-limits mines/catacombs?
>>
>>17557708
Op here, I took a trip to Paris just to go explore the catacombs. I met up with another urban explorer from Germany who had a detailed map and had been in there before. The place is very disorienting. I brought a few paint pens and made a mark every 20 or so feet. It is cold/damp and wet and gets colder and damper the farther in you go. We went in about 1 mile the first time. The next night we went in a different entrance and went in about 3 miles. You can tell that you are going deeper and deeper underground. We got to the "maze" as it was marked on the map. Just a bunch of twists and turns with a lot of open rooms. We found a lot of human skulls and graffiti with arrows pointing all over. It's really freaky in there. You hear voices and strange sounds, feel like you are being watched at all times, see figures just outside of your light.

Reminder that I'm trying to organize a group for a tour of Chernobyl this summer. The details are on /out/ and /trv/ if anyone is interested.

>Smashtvcanada
Jesus, two years ago I stumbled on them and marathoned all of their videos. It's a shame that they retired, they were good.
>>
>>17557828
There are too few urbex videos of the illusive Paris catacombs. I mean I don't want anyone stupid to go down and get themselves a slow, painful death of dehydration like that one partygoer story we all know about, but you would think that there would be more than a few American 2spoopy tv programmes about it and one or two clear hoaxes allegedly down there on youtube.

That will be a thread remembered through the years, like the ocean thread with the deep sea welder who saw that ancient reptile.

I think the fear is that the French gov will see videos of people going in there. It's already illegal so if a lot of people started doing it they would completely close it off. Tnt the entrances so nobody could go in there again

Glad to see someone making an effort to build up a basis for urban exploration! I've done quite a bit around New England over the past couple years and while I've got a few people who are interested in joining me and I only rarely go alone I really would like to have the availability of an urbanex network to learn more about spots before going and potentially go on ventures with other people. I know Ohio isn't exactly close to Central Mass, but if you're in the area and looking for good spots hit me up. Pic is from Spree Park, Berlin from when I was there last fall.
>>
>>17559853
Yeah there's a bunch of these. I've got the one for New England. Really useful guide even though it's a bit dated now.

Relatively speaking I'm not that far from Painesville. I'm in Streetsboro and I've checked out the old Geauga Lake over here. Unfortunately not much left. Truth be told though, I'm probably a bit too soft for regular adventuring. I've always really, really wanted to but you know... that line about meth heads and cops.

In southern New Jersey, there was this old military base that housed nukes during the cold war (it was called project Nike). After it shut down, it was converted into a school for several years until that closed down, ad well. It was demolished recently but I still have a few pictures from the base area and the school if anyone is interested
