Hey y'all, I'm looking for a lengthy illustrated "story" I once stumbled across online. It told of a future in which a race of distant alien life took control of mankind and, through genetic engineering, twisted them into all sorts of monstrosities, all of which were grotesque but still had some recognizably human features. It was fully illustrated and presented as a flora and fauna nature book. The illustrations were similar to those in Dougal Dixon's "Man After Man"
One detail I remember is an image of the alien species overlaid on Da Vinci's "Vitruvian Man" illustration. I know this is all sort of rambling and not much to go on, but any ideas as to what this might be? I read the whole thing online once. Thanks in advance if anyone can help!
Bump for interest!

I found this:

This future is terryfing.
That one is really fucking irritating because he has no concept of how evolution actually works, and also makes sure to include features (like noses) that are damn near unique to modern humans, that even our most recent ancestors did not have.
He also seems to think that a creature with human-level intelligence but no opposable thumbs would not be able to manage something as simple as fire.

The book explains that humans controlled their evolution by artificial means. Colonization of distant world was achieved by sending probes with genetic material to create humans after the planet had been terraformed. The later post-humans with no opposable thumbs are the result of the meddling of the Qu, a race of aggressive aliens that punished the human colonies by genetic manipulation, reducing them to barely intelligent animals. Eventually, the post human worlds would develop into different species with cultures of their own.

Yes! I've been searching for this for ages too!
There was one "branch" of mutation that were officers who had "dishonoured" themselves in war somehow, so were turned into a grotesque mount for their successors to ride into battle. Called a Polyp, iirc...
