But the question is why would it keep staring at the camera so long, it was clearly hiding and knows it's been spotted.
So it doesn't make sense to me if it was trying to hide or if it has hostile intentions.
On the other hand, if it was supposed to be some peaceful encounter and the alien stays there because the person filming didn't flip out right away then that might explain the behavior.
But don't you think they could come up with some better method of initiating contact? At least some way of sending some kind of message that they are coming in peace and don't want to hurt them?
