Hi /x/, I need some good, short creepypasta or horror stories. The ones that give you chills whenever you read them. Real or not, idc as soon as they're good.

I like this one, reminds me of walking around RPG towns when all the NPCs have been removed
>>17453915
For an attempt to tap into the same spirit as the old "call is coming from inside the house" type stories, it's really not that bad. Simplistic and it doesn't really distinguish itself, but I've sure as hell read far worse. If it had left off that sentence at the end, the effect would've been better.
>>17453553
please explain what the ending meant?

FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU
Most of these stories, besides OP's and a few others are just horrendously stupid, but the ones that irk me the most are those that the author pretends to be real. Like for example the dude tipping his fedora all bad ass and shit at 3AM in an allyway. What kind of fat neckbeard conjures this shit up and thinks it's spooky? In reality it's a literal cringefest.
>>17453377
This should be the final level of Doom

19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

I used to have the book this is from, I might still have it. I don't remember anything else about the book for sure, maybe some bits if it's this one book and not another one, but this story has stuck with me the whole time.
I told some people about it over XBL chat a while back and one of them relayed back the story of another painter. This man had Alzheimer's disease, and he never stopped painting. As his brain deteriorated and his mind regressed his painting went backwards through the stylistic changes he'd had, and back through the increases in skill he'd had. He painted worse and worse, but up to the very end he painted. In his last days, he couldn't talk, he couldn't make anything recognizable, but still he tried to paint.

This is actually kind of an intriguing maritime mystery. The picture here fails to mention that the lifeboat was missing, among other details. I think, from what more I've read about this, that there was about 8 crew members including the captain on the Mary Celeste, so, depending on the size of the lifeboat, they probably all could have fit on it. The real mystery is why they left at all. There were no obvious signs of violence and they had plenty of provisions left for their voyage.
At salvage hearings, different possibilities were considered including, but not limited to: mutiny by the crew, piracy (by the salvage ship, the Dei Gratia [that could have lied about how they came upon the Mary Celeste] or someone else), or conspiracy to carry out insurance or salvage fraud.
Nothing was found in terms of actual evidence to support any of those hypotheses.
Another interesting detail that came from the logs of the Mary Celeste was its last reported location: 37°01'N, 25°01'W, off Santa Maria Island in the Azores, which was about 700 km from where the Dei Gratia reportedly found it.
Some food for thought: What happened that caused the crew to abandon ship in the lifeboat (as seems likely since the lifeboat was gone)? Did the ship veer off course before the crew left or after?

But I agree with this dude, she was most likely a shoplifter or something trying to get you to move away from your register so someone she was working with could swipe it or something else while you were distracted with her.
Even if she was just a weird customer that was frustrated for little to no reason, I still think you did a good job on your part by not leaving your station, considering how few staff you had to support you. Top priority in places like that is to look out for shady people and report them.
When I was a wee youngster working in retail at the register, I got swindled at least once that I know of by some ladies that literally returned items that they scooped off the shelves in the store that day. When I figured out what they did, I felt like a complete dumbass.

Dimethyl Sulfate was deemed the cause of the symptoms of the hospital workers. An investigation hypothesized that Gloria was using DMSO as a home remedy for pain. The DMSO can be found in hardware stores in gel form and would possibly explain the grease on Gloria's body. The investigation hypothesized that the DMSO built up in her system via urinary blockage due to kidney failure. Oxygen administered by paramedics could have combined with it to form DMSO2, which can crystallize at room temperature (these crystals are possibly what were seen in the sample of blood drawn by Susan Kane). The temperature drop of DMSO2 from Ramirez's body temperature to the room temp of the emergency room, as well as the electric shock of the defibrillator, could have converted DMSO2 into DMSO4, a poisonous gas.

"Malediction of Sapience" means "the curse of wisdom", I guess.

My guess was that the man dreaming about Michael felt that the dreams he was having were cathartic, or stress relieving. He slept peacefully, dreaming of Michael dying a thousand different times in a thousand different ways. Whether Michael was a real person, I don't know. If he was, and the man was literally killing him over and over in his dreams, I don't know if the man was doing it knowingly or if he thought he was imagining it. Either way, it seems the dreams brought relief to the dreaming man while they brought constant horror and pain to Michael.
Anyone have any of those short stories which all involved a murder or something, and all the details to figure them out were in the story? I vaguely remember reading them a year or so ago, and they were quite fun

The problem with that is that it would probably take more than five minutes to get someone who would say yes, so the caller would come out behind.

They can just hang up if they don't get a "yes" right away and robocall the next victim.
This is your reminder to engage in deceptive magical contracts smarter, not harder.
I would like to take the chance,
To talk about a dance,
I should rather say the dance,
For there is no other like it.
You see there is not a chance to fight it
it engulfs in a silent trance.
And its victims are in predicament!
For from the outside, all looks well,
But inside they are trapped,
Companions think they're smiling,
But Ney that is the bug,
That comes along and bites you,
But these ones you cannot see them,
They come disguised as music,
To make you twitch and writhe in rythem.
And now you've heard their jingle.
With you they are now smitten.

Yeah, bump it to 1969 until 2020, then '74 until 2030, etc.
