I enjoyed it until the 4th season. Then I called bullshit and dropped the show. Its more talk talk which I wouldn't mind if the writing wasn't so shit and the characters weren't so unbelievably dumb. The zombies are literal shit now and everything sucks.

When I have time later, I'd revise the episodes under the X-Files and Fringe. For starters, "Home", while not bad, is way overrated just because it got banned once. I also see none of the essential plot-relevant or Mytharc episodes. And "Marionette" for Fringe was pretty weak and had too much relationship drama BS at the end, plus the rest of this list is very short. Lastly, how can you call this "essentials" and then list "one off" episodes? It's either one or the other, or clarify what you're going for.
Oh, and the Walking Dead? I can't fathom why that's so popular. Watched the entire first season and it's nothing but every zombie cliche ever. That might work in a movie or two, but an ongoing series? Maybe I just don't like zombies enough, but I'd say this one is really overhyped.

But its true you dumb cunt. Twin Peaks was good for the first season and first half of the second. Then when it went into full on soap opera mode with every episode basically being just filler it fucked up the whole series. From comfy mysterious shit with interesting and likeable characters it went into wacky small town shenanigans with gay overtones for no reason and every episode was torture until the finale.
Oh, and don't get me with "but its Lynch, they were parodying soap operas, its ironic". Just shut it!

But Lynch wasn't involved with most of the 2nd season. He and Mark Frost were doing their own things around the second half of season 2, which explains why it becomes so dumb. The last episode is good because Lynch comes back, as well as Frost, if I recall.
