It's gotta be CGI, like those realistic and live action images in spongebob.

Yeah, I liked it. It was one of my tulpa's favorite shows.
So did Alex ever disclose his name?
>>17372469
I don't think so, but there's a book coming out that apparently answers questions like that.
Anyway, the show is very well made, and has a strong, well-written narrative and a lot of interesting ideas. It's unfortunate the reputation it gets simply for being a cartoon and on Disney Channel. The writing is higher quality than most live-action TV stuff these days, but people can't see past 'muh childrens' drawings'.
Having listened to interviews with Alex throughout the duration of the show, he is actually a remarkably competent story-teller (from a technical perspective) and it really shows in Gravity Falls. People on other boards can shitpost all they want about how it's a Tumblr cartoon or whatever, but, especially considering the fact that Alex openly makes fun of Tumblr, there's no truth to it pandering to anybody other than /x/. Wouldn't surprise me if Alex were an /x/phile at some point in his life.
Soft spot for me I guess since I work in cartoons and the immediate association they get to SJW/tumblr stuff shits me to tears.
