There are lots of things scientists openly don't understand, like consciousness, or how body structure arises from DNA (since DNA defines ingredients, not how they're cooked). And remember that biology is exclusively based on materialism, which has the possibility of being misleading. But the memeing normie public seems to think that we have everything figured out.
consciousness is a very specific physical state of energy. if an energy system sustains a certain state of complexity, it becomes conscious. it's a universal law not too different than the ones that cause water to boil at 100C or cause black holes in space.
