About a week or so ago, I came to /x/ with an issue concerning my path towards enlightenment. A lot of anons provided me with very insightful advice, and I'm doing much better as a result. There is still a lot to work out but I've decided to commit myself to fulfilling my ambitions of becoming a voudon gnostic. Just wanted to give back by giving everyone what few skeleton pictures I possess and some general advice for those treading the path of enlightenment. I'm no expert but I'll share what I can.
OP here forgot to mention I am a girl also.

>voudon gnostic
>enlightenment
What the fuck am I reading
>>17364611
Do some research and you'll know what you're reading. Enlightenment and what it consists of/means differs from person to person.
What a shitty thread. Are you sure you are enlighten? Lmao
Would catching all Pokémons lead me to enlightenment?

>"vodoun gnostic"

anon pls.
>>17364848
I never claimed to be enlightened. Only that I'm on the path.
>>17365069
You don't know how long I've been striving towards self mastery. Furthermore my path being unconventional or different doesn't mean there's nothing for me to offer.
Have a skeleton you two
My goodness this one amuses me so
>>17365026
it would bring you closer
but you'd need to level them all to 100 to get even closer still

Enlightenment is more like. We're all limited versions of the actual game. Even the "Deluxe edition" that predates it. How many times are we gonna repeat this franchise with the remakes? How soon until they have gay versions? Or dog versions. Wait...does everyone play this game or is it just me? Oh my god I think I get it now. I must sell my games and become an vodou gnostic.
i thought enlightenment was basically understanding that we're rocks in space
Gnostic? More like dontgnowshit

Tbh senpai all the negative responses and b8 posts do little more than amuse me. I'm well aware the average anon has poor analytical and critical thinking skills so when you common fools attempt to muck up a thread it just serves to heighten my appreciation for those on /x/ with a good head on their shoulders.
And you guys helped me stumble across the f a m -> senpai autoedit
Lol'd hard.. great way to start the day
I'm an enlightened chan master, ask me anything you want

Why did linji get enlightened after getting hit with a stick three times by his master huangbo?
If the teaching of enlightenment is so easy, that it can be taught by hitting people with sticks and not speaking a word to them, why do people make it complicated all the time?

>If the teaching of enlightenment is so easy, that it can be taught by hitting people with sticks and not speaking a word to them, why do people make it complicated all the time?
Because only people whose minds are sufficiently purified (of karmic bondage) and receptive to transcendent insight can receive such teachings. This comes as a result of perfected meditative practice (absent of distracting influences), not conceptual theorization.
Most practitioners however, are limited to intellectual comprehension when starting out. They can only grasp/comprehend ideas, and even then thats not in any way shape or form reminiscent of true understanding (i.e. the real thing). All it can do is inspire and guide them to practice nonattachment, which in turn results in permanent awareness and realization of the tranquil, nondual, undistorted, natural state of mind.. or enlightenment.. whatever you want to call it.
>>17367347
How can one anon be so right and so wrong at the same time?
Perhaps because there is no standard. Just the perception thereof.
Enlightenment isn't what anyone thinks it is, and if you're discussing it then yeah you're headed in the right direction but still far from the mark.
Myself included.
>>17367347
>Because only people whose minds are sufficiently purified (of karmic bondage) and receptive to transcendent insight can receive such teachings
no such thing as karmic bondage, nothing to purify. This mistakenly implies some distinction between pure and impure and that one of those is better than the other.
>This comes as a result of perfected meditative practice (absent of distracting influences), not conceptual theorization.
Yes, the whole point of the hitting is to make them aware of their shitty theoretical thoughts.
"Perfected meditation" being one of the misleading theoretical thoughts.
>All it can do is inspire and guide them to practice nonattachment, which in turn results in permanent awareness and realization of the tranquil, nondual, undistorted, natural state of mind.. or enlightenment.. whatever you want to call it.
This is also misleading theoretical thought. Attainment thinking is really the worst. Nobody has ever realized enlightenment, it's not something to realize or attain in the first place.
There is no practice at all that can help people with this understanding, because all these practices are born from misunderstandings.
>>17367384
>Enlightenment isn't what anyone thinks it is
And talking about it is creating confusion. Everyone who calls himself or others enlightened or talks or questions about enlightenment deserves to be hit with a stick for creating confusion.
>including me
>>17367388
This.
Let me say the poster you're greentexting put some good food for thought into their post. Damn good. But that much thought into something that simply Is Itself without being anything at all demonstrates there may be more unlearning than learning for them to do.
Graci.
>>17367388
>no such thing as karmic bondage, nothing to purify. This mistakenly implies some distinction between pure and impure and that one of those is better than the other.
That which distracts you from realization of tranquil-mind is karmic bondage. Full immersion in thought, emotion, physical senses to the detriment of losing attunement with the natural state of mind is called ignorance.
>shitty theoretical thoughts
"shitty" is a relative illusory (i.e. impermanent) label brought about by ignorance of the emptiness of phenomena, that is, the absolute nature of all things.
>Nobody has ever realized enlightenment
Perhaps your understanding of the term is misguided. Enlightenment in practice terms, refers to liberation from suffering (self-identification with impermanence), ignorance (of the absolute mind in its natural tranquil state) and perpetual rebirth (resulting from karmic bondage, infatuation, or habitual distraction/immersion within form-based phenomena).
>>17367473
Enlightenment is also characterized as embodying higher purpose. Existing for the benefit of all, existing to fulfill the potential of the human spirit regardless of how dire or helpless circumstances may appear. That is mastery of the mind and human potential. That kind of character bears the mark of transcendence over worldly influences.
>>17367473
all of this is misleading conceptual understanding.
Aren't you aware that all of what you said is just a conceptual system you're getting attached to?
You should probably get rid of confusing concepts such as karma, liberation, rebirth, impermanence, absolute nature, etc.
>>17367557
I speak from experiences resulting from dedicated practice. I phrase them as best I can to convey my findings conceptually. Common terms help to do this better than terms I've come up with to describe things more accurately. Such terms would help me more, but they would also only serve to confuse anyone who doesn't share my personal context and point of references. Just because I phrase in common terms doesn't mean I'm mindlessly regurgitating popular thought here. At any rate, I don't personally rely on words much these days. I am strictly practice oriented when it comes to subject of nonattachment.
I love how full of bullshit these enlightenment threads get. You talk about enlightenment with big word and a whole lotta authority! But it's all the same generic understanding, truth, belief. You guys gotta calm down and stop slingin this whack shit.
>>17367595
I agree. In this world, people need a living example to prove it can be done. They need to see that such words are not a pipedream; they need to see that practice works and produces the results they want to see in themselves. Tranquility of mind cannot be conveyed and proven through words and speech, but they can certainly be proven through incorruptible action and undeniable presence.
OP, I like your skele's and I like what you've said about your path. Some folk here won't get it, don't worry about them. Good luck.

Do you think enlightenment, once you reach it, will be a permanent state that you will remain in for the rest of your life?
Or is it a temporal state that one may drift into momentarily and be pulled back out of?
>>17368831
When I was younger, I always imagined it being a permanent thing. Now that I've gotten older I'm beginning to believe it's something more akin to a state of transition like most other aspects of living.
enlightenment, for me is the feeling of good music. The same feeling you get when you hear a part of your favorite song . how wonderful would it be to feel that way about anything, Let alone activate that feeling at will. But it's a reaction that most people think is only that, a reaction. But it's not. It's a state of mind. It's something I hope I may learn to "activate" outside of sitting down and thinking about it , and let it be a feeling that accompanies me through life.
I would love to learn how to conjure the same feeling, in any situation, any time. and not in the box of my room or sitting in my car while driving.
