I know the explanation given by the Russian government, which seems shady. Possible soviet testing going on which resulted in them being killed by whatever was tested?

Pretty obviously this one was caused by some kind of explosive testing by the russian government in that supposed no man's land. Guys were very near a detonation in the middle of their sleeping and they panicked out and freeze-died in the snow as explosions bursted around them in the sky. Avalanches and shit rek'd their bodies afterwards.
