New fag here, I'm trying to write a fantasy novel and add some really dark ancient deities into it. I've been trying to find some religions to take some inspiration from, but about the only thing I've found so far is few pagan gods that somewhat do the trick, but not much else. Any good places to start?

You could use Popobawa. He's a shapeshifting bat demon from Zanzibar who sodomises men who don't believe in him every night until spread his legend and convince others that he exists.

I don't know how this may help you, but look up Naglfar (not the band). its like a ship made of finger nails that took people somewhere in the after life or something. I obviously dont know a lot about it.
My parents used to scare me that if I go to swim alone Näkki will take me away. So I guess it is scary? Other than that I cant remember any other pagan deities that could be scary. Most of them are quite nice.

Always make up your own with this kind of thing. If a reader can look up your spoopy deity on wikipedia, they won't find it as scary unless it's fairly obscure.
Conjuring up your own dark deities or deity-like entities is better to instill a sense or horror. Think of Cthulhu.
Using mythology to inspire fictional entities like this are best done with demons and monsters, but they don't bring the same sense of horror as an all-powerful god.
