Once I had nothing to lose I figured it was time to just do my best to help other people since I felt like I was beyond saving basically. I felt a spiritual connection to God growing in me during this time. But I still had too much ego and guilt about what a piece of shit I had been to accept God. So I had to go through more bad stuff until one day I literally cried out for Jesus' help and he saved me. (Sorry, I know you guys get annoyed with Christfags, I'm just telling you what I experienced)
So, I guess the best thing to do if you are really serious about communicating with God is to humbly serve others and live a simple and unselfish life. And leave that line open and be ready for God's call
