I've never been ready to believe in magic. The only paranormal thing I've ever been affected by is time travel.
People don't believe in "magic" anymore because they don't want to admit they have no idea how things work. Here are a list of things that were considered Magic at one point in time:
Metallurgy
Chemistry
Physics
Meteorology
Psychology
People who could do this shit would be considered Wizards and the things they practiced would be considered magic. Contemporary human beings fall back on the "nothing's magic because everything has a reasonable explanation" argument without realizing the fundamental fallacy in their assertion: Even "Magic" has a reasonable explanation, it's just that nobody knows what it is yet.

I can't say that I don't think the world would be a more interesting place if supernatural things did exist, but to be fair, I think a large part of their appeal is that they don't.
Therefore, they can't be known, and forever remain a mystery to those who do believe.
