Sorry for the anti post, but what a lot of people fall for is the fact that kangaroos don't WALK around. When they are going walking pace, what they do is put both front limbs on the ground and then slowly hop both their huge muscular rears forward in one movement.
What this does is create the impression there is a huge bipedal creature walking around with massive footstep sounds like FOOMP! FOOMP! FOOMP!
It even catches out ordinary Ausfailians.

I live in the outback, and 'roos and wallabies walk on all fours when just moving around their feeding area.
They also sit down most of the day.
As for scary stuff: yowie is pretty much our mythical critter that some people say they've seen. I'm calling BS until I've seen one or there's verifiable proof.

My dad told me about this village/town/fucking tiny place he stopped for gas once. This was in the early 80s, but the pump was hand cranked, there a old guy sitting in a rocking chair who was completely grey and looked to be dead by all accounts, to top it off when he was driving out he saw a girl walking a dog backwards, the girl was walking backwards, so was the dog.
