So, what's the dealio with feeling pain in dreams?

Are you hurting yourself in your sleep but not enough to wake up or leave a mark?

Is your mind like, dredging up past memories of pain? (I think this is unlikely, because when I think of times I've been in pain I can remember the scale of pain but not the sensation itself).

Or do we just make up the feeling the feeling of pain in our heads? Much like how people with psychosis can imagine pain being inflicted on them with no IRL cause?

I think it relates to your energetic/subte body

I also suspect the same happens with phantom pains

While you're dreaming what happens in the dream is real to the brain, including pain sensations. The pain fades quickly after waking because it has no physical cause.
