I'm failing to understand the origin of this argument. The man in picrelated. assisted by two other men, caused a criticality by adding an extra bucket of uranium to the refining mixture, a product of miscalculation and pure human error. That has nothing to do with natural selection. And, I daresay, the concept of natural selection -never- imagined a species of ape splitting atoms and experiencing the consequences thereof. Natural selection deals with creatures of the same species who cannot adapt to changes in the environment, i.e. aquatic lizards being unable to turn amphibious. Why is this even an argument?

During his treatment there was actually a period where they attempted a bone marrow transplant and witnessed a massive spike in his cell replication rate and for a few days it looked like he was actually going to pull through, but then they began rapidly dropping again and his cells began undergoing processes of denaturation where his chemical composition literally began falling apart.
"Melting" is a nasty way of putting it, but not entirely inaccurate. Same thing happens on a smaller scale when you experience heatstroke.

It's not natural selection if that was what their supervisor told them to do. It's not natural selection if they didn't know exactly how the processes worked and were not informed by the company. It's not natural selection if the company was pushing them to do dangerous and unsafe practices to meet their bottom line. His was not a case of natural selection. His was a case of someone being used first by the company to make money at his expense, then by the scientific and medical community for research purposes, despite him pleading for them to let him go (as in die) while he was still able to communicate.
