New Year /x/ related images and New Year Superstitions
First I'd like to point out something about this New Year's Superstition;
"Don't wash any clothes on New Year's Day or there could be a death in your home. Legend has it that if you wash your clothes, you "wash away" that person. The more superstitious, don't even wash dishes."
It doesn't work. Five years in a row now I've tried this, not a thing.
None the less more superstitions to follow.
1. Black-eyed peas
Eat these for good luck! And, if you eat them with greens, you'll find financial prosperity. The peas represent good luck, while the greens represent money.
2. 'First Footer'
It is considered good luck if the first person to visit your home is a man. And, if that man brings gifts, it's even better!
3. Fill your cupboards
Don't leave any cupboards empty on New Year's, or they'll stay that way through the year.
4. Nothing goes out
Some believe you will lose things all year long if you take anything, even trash, out of the house on New Year's Day.
5. Make some noise
Scare away the evil spirits by making lots of loud noises. Eating those blackeyed peas might help here.
6. Happy birthday
Babies born on January 1 are thought to have luck on their side.
7. Midnight kiss
Kissing someone at midnight will ensure romance for the next 12 months. Don't worry, if you're alone at midnight, give your hand a smooch.

9. No cleaning
No brooms or dusters this New Year's. Some fear sweeping will sweep away all the good fortune for the new year.
10. Open doors at midnight
Let the bad out and the good in by opening your doors at midnight
11. No loans
Don't lend money or items to anyone of New Year's. If you do you'll be paying out money all year long.
12. As you prepare to countdown to the new year, make sure you have a plate of grapes close by.
But this is no midnight snack. Before (or during) the hugs and kisses that ensue after the new year begins, make sure to eat 12 grapes -- representing the 12 months of the new year -- while making a wish for every month/grape that you have.
But beware! Get a sour grape and that could mean a bad month is in store for you. Also, many believe the grapes must be consumed within the first 12 minutes of the new year -- or else...

Also there are the Germans melting lead for adivination
