Hey /x/, I'm trying to find info on a town in the USA that was basically destroyed during a US biological weapons test and poorly covered up.

All I remember is that it happened in the later half of the 20th century. I can't find anything on google but I remember reading about it several years ago.

Perhaps some of you know what I'm talking about. pic unrelated

What do you call a legend that has it's own version in every country/region you could possibly find?

Yeah, that's what this is.

Also, >>17143194
>>17143225
Wtf... definitely new. /x/philes know this is a slow as fuck board. You could've left it for easily an entire day without a bump.

/b/ as fuck. Which is sad, because it's a pretty interesting subject when approached correctly.

Biological weapons? Care to elaborate? Something as egregious as the use of biological weapons on US soil post World War 2 is something I'm not sure I'd buy, unless you're referring to Raccoon City, in which case no evidence
>>

> pretty interesting subject when approached correctly.

this isn't SCP forums calm down

So you obviously don't know the town then.
>>
>>17143284
You really came to the wrong place, man. This board is for rping, fun posting and a containment board for people who actually think the earth is flat or that 9/11 was an inside job.
>>
>>17143284
>>17143301
Maybe go ask /k/?
>>
>>17143284
Is there any site on the web more self indulgent and gay then the SCP forums? Or is there a Super Weenie Hut Junior for kiddos to write about their haunted Fivey Freddies carts straight for the flea market I'm not aware of?

I figured there were a few sane people left and not RPfagboys

Cumberland, MD.

Astounding rates of cancer.
>>
>>17143193
Color me skeptic, but how on the seven hells would a ~biological~ weapon destroy a town? Killing the inhabitants is one thing; but wiping out the whole place sounds a taaaaaaad bit too implausible.
>>
>>17143284
>SCP
U trollin' m8?

I think it's an interesting subject, about towns like in the movie "The Crazies."

Do I think it's within the capabilities of modern governments? Fuck no. Do I think it's interesting to talk about, as previously stated? Yes.

Your response is like I said "hey, that Trump guy is funny" and you were like "HOLY FUCK TRUMP WINS THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION*SPARKELERS&CONFETTI* *DUMMM DUM DUMM DUMMM*"

There are. Most are jaded and call any post against their own RP, or say something even more cliche like "back to /b/ with you."

If you've been here for long enough, you've figured out how the RPing, trolling, and cyclical believing posters work.

Not to be mistaken for "zomg ima oldfag." This is a fucking anonymous board, it defeats the purpose for me to care what you think about me for this insignificant post. I've just been around long enough to figure out the circles this board/site takes, and it doesn't take long.

No

>>17143357
What is confusing? I read through that post 3x and everything written, as well as it's meaning, was pretty clear.
>>
>>17143359
There are also some genuinely schizophrenic people here.
>>
>>17143328
sorry, inhabitants killed. I went a bit dramatic.

If my memory does serve correct I BELIEVE the town was burnt down shortly after, but I could be thinking of somewhere else.

>>
>>17143352

>>
>>17143411
Glad someone appreciated it.
>>
>>17143193
There is no reason why such a thing would ever happen. For whatever tests there's been (and, admittedly, there's been a few), the agent used was never a lethal one; what they test is the spreading method, not the lethality (as the diseases caused are well known).

I don't 100% doubt such tragedy might have happened; but if it did, it was brought about by a distinctly sadistic group of individual, as it'd have been wholly unnecessary.
>>
>>17143386
Maybe narrow it down by in which states weapon testing is/was be done at all. Then look up maps from pre-WW2, the 1950's and now. Look which cities have disappeared, and try to trace why. There is a shitton of perfectly mundane reasons, ofc. Economic disasters are not exactly unheard of.
hmm. Now that i think about it, that could be a pretty damn interesting project for my own country.
>>
>>17143386
Already answered previously ITT. If you care enough about the story, you'll find one.

If you REALLY need me to hold your fuckin' hand, look up Jamestown. Any further research is on you.

Times Beach Missouri.
I lived there and all the bullshit that was going on.
Strange shit and covered up.
>>
Seems like it must have been covered up a lot better than OP remembers
>>
>>17143491
Jamestown NY? I used to work there..

The town you're thinking of is Midland City. A biochemist from Cornell University wrote about it in 1982--check it out.
>>
>>17143308
There is not.

place is a shithole. Which is a shame since a few of the early skips are pretty good.

Now its all "Uhhhh, memetic properties" and shameless rip offs.
>>
>>17144015
Half the time its still better than /x/'s bad side. We need a theology board to get the religious shills off /x/

There was a rumor in my town that the coal fires of Centralia were set deliberately to cover up a hypogeum that some miners found. Nothing biological though.

It's called the Tuskegee experiment, and if black people knew about, they would use it as an excuse to get syphilis and demand more welfare.
I'm not saying it should have happened, I'm just saying it already happened and it's best to forget about it.

Russell Bliss was the person that spread all the dioxin tainted oil with Times Beach. All that can be found in a Wiki. I think only Bliss and some other gal was the scapegoats for the government. Most of the town and area is flat (flood prone) except numerous hill that were "fenced in, government mines." Russell also ran trucks that no one was to know about, some trucks were just buried with the contents. Check out the St Louis area and the fires of the local landfills.
I've known Russell since "82" and seen his place.
You want to know more, ask.
