If you're looking for some more onscure J-Horror, go with Noroi and Kairo. Tha latter of which has one legitimately horrifying scene. Noroi isn't especially noteworthy, but the plot is definitely /x/ish in nature and really pulls you in.

That was Serial Killer Sue the movie. The bit where the guy was talking about how 'masterful' the killer was in holding the camera AND smothering the girl with chloroform made my eyes roll upwards into orbit. 2 hours of Talking about how amazing a guy is at killing people doesn't make it a movie.
Can never go wrong with Cronenberg. The Brood and Videodrome are my current favorites, I'll probably watch eXistenZ next since the just idea of a video game horror movie that apparently works baffles me.
