Hey guys, long time inefficient meditator here, improving my practices daily! One of the major reasons for this is that I've begun using mantras. The serenity and peace involved in my practices has been increasing ever since I've begun chanting; not to mention the described, yet, to me, unexpected spiritual benefits!
Om mani padme hum is a sacred mantra said to have many benefits.

It saved me from suicide (no joke)
Recently I've been cleansing myself from all past negative kamma, and with this, initially, comes a lot of pain! I'd willingly overdosed on insulin due to the clearing of a lot of blockages and working through past ill-belief systems,
I was ready to die. I prayed to Archangel Michael and he said something to the effect of "Not yet!" Moments later Om mani padme hum started playing randomly in my mind, and a benevolent spirit took over only after I began reciting the mantra myself. The spirit evoked by Om mani padme hum took me to the mirror and began shaving my beard and my head, shaving the beard was suggested by Vajradhara Buddha the night prior, but this time the spirit took over! After coming to my center, I began shaving the head myself, reciting Om mani padme hum all throughout.
The Buddhas do not wish to control us, but simply to encourage towards happiness, and more importantly, the path of enlightenment. Chenzerig is most benevolent.
The mantras have helped me immensely. It gets better day by day. Persevere, dear brothers!
