We witnessed one of the biggest online radio networks that had been building for two and a half years destroyed. And we watched a lady with no experience Art Bell met on an internet forum installed as the host of one of the biggest paranormal shows in the world with tens of thousands of listeners every night and dozens of terrestrial affiliates.

what happened?
Someone set fireworks off near Art's house which he interpreted as someone trying to kill him. His wife yelled at him. Now his producer who is some lady he met on a forum devoted to him is the host of the show while he's in hiding. Sound strange?

Art is probably having 'Nam flashbacks. He does have the young asian bride who's supposedly under fire.
Heather was at Art's house before his show started. He let her sit in the chair at his command center and hangout.
The day before the show started they did a live test show with Heather as co-host. People didn't like this and they claimed they were never serious about having a co-host.
A few weeks into the show's run the producer is ousted and Heather gets the job.
Art quits his show due to a stalker who harasses him while he's on the air. A few hours later he's back on the air as a guest of Heather's.
Heather already has a guest and is doing a regular show despite the major event that just happened.
Art says that he'd like to come back and guest host if Heather's show is a success.
