Mythology is full of them. Vampires, werewolves, strange creatures, bigfoot, whatever. As for physical contact with ghosts: no. They're not exactly physical so it's not like you can go Mike Tyson on a ghost's ass. Typically people just use prayers and incantations and stuff to cast them out.
