Lucifer is the devil before he was cast out of heaven.
In the older Hebrew version the name was closer to "heylel" and meant "Shining One, Light Bearer". The name Lucifer is a Latin translation and refers to "the morning star", I.E. Venus, which has caused quite a bit of confusion as Lucifer is occasionally used to refer to other characters and entities, including of course the planet Venus itself.
Satan and the devil are one and the same, Satan is his name, and the devil is what he is, closer to a title.
Similar to how Yahweh is God's name, and God is what he is.

>Yahweh is God's name
no it's not.
>>17039717
Oh right, I forgot, it's Jehova...
>>17039720
no it's not. both are just made up english words based on hebrew text.

Oh so we're playing the nitpicking game?
Yahweh is the English spelling of a Hebrew word.

>Yahweh is the English spelling of a Hebrew word.
no it's not. it's a transliteration of the hebrew letters for the name of god but no one really knows how they were pronounced. so it's an inaccurate transliteration and yahweh, jehovah or anything of the sort is just guessing and, essentially, made up.
