Windigo or skinwalker tales. Innawoods stories are the best desu
>>17024130
Bumping and tracking with interest. This is what I come to /x/ for.
>>17024130
Pic semi-related (very /x/ related) is an awesome series about disappearances in state parks in the US and Canada et al. I can post a few cases out of the book if anyone wants? I'm about halfway through the Western US and Canada book. It'll make you not want to visit state parks again.
>>17024150
Please do
>>17024150
That sounds interesting. I'd like to read a few of them if you'll paste them.
>>17024158
Okay I'll post pics of the pages since typing them out would take forever. Give me 5 minutes or so, grabbing a smoke and will post. I'll do the first case in the book since it's absolutely fascinating.
>>17024130
I've got one that may have been a spoopwalker.
> 2 friends and I camping on grandparents property
> set up camp, make fire because the sun is going down
> not 20 min after it gets too dark to see the woods fall silent
> 2 legged movement goes from left to right across our camp
> been hunting for years and can tell the difference between 2 legs and 4 in the leaves
> start freaking out because we brought no guns, only an axe because we planned to drink all night
> walking stops for 5 seconds
> suddenly 6-8 coyotes start howling at the same time 50 feet away from us
> we shine the flashlight and see all the eyes
> NOPE
> this is unusual for the area, where groups of two - 3 coyotes are the norm, and you will hear them howl for a good mile away before they get close
> we all know this
> we all got to the camp site in trips on 1 ATV
> obviously we weren't about to get skinwalked so we all piled on it and sped away, shining a flashlight behind and in front the whole ride back.
> 4 sets of eyes follow our ATV
> southern ohio coyotes do NOT do that shit
> punch the gas all the way down the hill
And thats why we never camp there anymore.
>>17024182
We still camp those woods, but since we moved the camp down the hill away from the creepy 50's ford truck thats abandoned miles away from any road, the creepyness is only when I camp alone. Something larger than a coyote came into my camp and walked around my tent for an hour. I never go in those woods alone unarmed anymore.

>>17024209
Its kinda laughable but all of my friends who have gone into my grandparents woods feel a sense of dread and if you go in alone time has a habit of speeding up or slowing down. You will be sitting on a rock enjoying nature for 10 minutes, check you watch and notice 3 hours have passed. I doubt its a skinwalker is in those woods, but some fucked up shit seems to

Thx mighty op
Either a skinwalker / wendigo possessed / took the form of my childhood friend, or it was a demon.
This is eastern europe though, and we don't have skinwalkers here, but we have creatures in the folklore that can take the form of someone or possess them.
Posted the story a while ago but it's long (a few posts long)

If anyone wants a 4th case, I can do the one about the young man hiking by Crater Lake. That'll be it for today though. I'd be interested in people's theories on these incidents though.
>>17024541
hot diggity
Ive had creepy wendigo-like encounters at my cabin property outside of Winchester, VA inside of the WV border.
Theres apparently a goat man whom the locals have seen alot of. He leaves open carcasses and prints and fur. Ive been in my cabin and had motion lights go off outside my bedroom and see clear as day the creature running back into the woods. So im a true believer, but Ive also had encounters when I camp out alone or with my dog where i wake up and theres fuckhuge goat prints in the mud around the tent and clumps of rabbit fur.

Okay, alcohol is setting in but I will post it. These are the best cases from the book I've read thus far. I would really recommend reading the whole thing (I still haven't but will finish soon), this shit is nuts. If nothing else, it proves there is something in the woods and the US government is willfully ignorant of it or covering it up.

Theres a massive coverup of paranormal shit going on, the amount of paranormal activity I see and HEAR on a weekly basis when I go up to bumfuck , appalachia is in fucking credible. Like literally I just had an old woman tell me a week ago a story how her husband was drowned to death by a strange black horse that visited the town back in the 70's that other townfolk knew about. He went out to feed it one morning and they found him drowned in a small pond for a farm.

>Be me, 4 years ago.

>Anyway I took my mum's friend who we shall now call "M" up on an offer to spend time there, Friends were off doing end of 6th form shit in Hot, Nice countries or beaches.
>I don't like the sun and I don't like hot places, so that shit's not for me, but I also didn't want to be stuck at home either.
>Off to Skye I go.
>When I arrived after what seemed like an eternity of getting on and off of trains and then being picked up by M something about how I remembered it seemed off, but M told me that it always looked more gloomy before the start of winter after which it just get's too cold for you to care.
>We both laughed and I was put into a good mood, She drove me to her place on the outskirts of Portree, and helped me get my stuff out of the car.
> I had a lot of shit with me despite only having arranged to stay there for about 3 weeks.
>I planned to do all of the touristy stuff at the start and by myself, "M" worked on the mainland and was only at her house for 4 days a week, so I was planning to get laid or something.
>I don't fucking know how that made sense at the time but I was planning on it so it made me a little bit stupid when making my way to places.
>Portree was about a 30 mins walk away so that was where I would head to as soon as she'd left.
>Only condition of me staying was that I took her dog for walks and stuff which would usually be done by a neighbour while she was away, he'd also come to check up on me every other day.
> I was tired as fuck from the journey, so I went straight to sleep, dreaming of the conquests I would make of some nice Scottish Girls.

>>17025007
It can be spelled either way cunt-swab
I like to think that there are creatures that used to be apex predators but failed to adapt to the changing environment over the last 10-20,000 years. They killed humans and left a powerful presence in folk memory, but gradually were pushed further and further into remote wilderness as human civilization spread. Now they've all but disappeared, though isolated remnants are still in places like some national parks and unsettled wilderness.
>>17025007
There are at least half a dozen different spellings and even more ways to say it, settle down bro.
>>17025175
Yeah that time span is not enough time for an animal to evolve. Maybe adapt but if the animal does not mate it has no chance to change. Say these skin walkers or windigos are immortal. They would constantly kill humans and be in their prime era. As you said before civilization grew. Now they have no way to hide except in large wooded areas.

>>17025196
No, I don't think they're immortal.
Actually, hold up, I don't really think any of this in the first place. It's more like a "what if" deal.
Haven't said anything about evolution or immortality. They're flesh and blood creatures with small remaining populations, holdover species that can't survive in the modern world but still have a niche in the fringes where there isn't any substantial human population.

Many of those cases ARE interesting reads, but Paulides is pretty freaking sketchy when you go digging. The way he got fired, the way he acts... it reminds me of the PG video. If a guy has a history of scamming and doing shady shit, I'm just way less inclined to read into their bullshit.
I actually want Samsquamch to be discovered and think it would greatly benefit society if they really were self-aware and intelligent. It's pretty unlikely it exists, and if it does then it is either something above our understanding or a species that is on its last legs. Paulides and his like are the reason cryptozoology/ufology aren't taken more seriously, embellishing details and exploiting poor family tragedies. I'll give him this, he makes a good sale - I'd definitely buy his vacuum. I almost bought his book when it first came out, actually, until I read up a bit on the guy. I got any good bits from it on /x/ anyways.
