I recently heard about this website and about how it solved mysteries and the creepy “anonymous” guys and stuff, and I kinda need one of those mysteries solved. I am not good with computers and if you guys can help me, it is much appreciated.
So basically my sister, Andrea, went missing a little bit ago and my family has been looking everywhere for ways to help find her. The police assume that she got kidnapped. From what we understand, she’s been on her computer a lot when she first bought it off Craigslist a couple of days ago. Keep in mind, this is her first ever computer, so she went ahead and made her social media accounts for the first time. Then later in the week, she disappeared.
Earlier today, we got a technician to come in and get her broken computer and get all the files from it. The processor got damaged or something so the computer itself can’t be used. The tech guy made a virtual disk file out of the data and apparently it can be ‘booted’ meaning it can be run in another computer. He just sent me the zipped folder and told me to ‘boot it in VirtualBox’.
Since I don’t know shit about how this stuff works, and I don’t want to mess my PC up, I need you more experienced guys to run the file. Look through her browsing history or something, I don’t know, something that can help.
If you guys can find out who kidnapped my sister, it would be amazing and maybe we can actually find her.

my first thought then I saw the russian and translated it was that google translated it far too well. meaning it was written in english, put into google translator and translated to russian. then when it goes back to english through the same tool it comes out perfect instead of looking like mangled english which it would if it were written by a russian speaker.

OP, if I were you, I'd try hiring a Private Investigator. Not sure if that's in their jurisdiction or if investigating a missing persons case is legal, but do some googling, see what comes up.
