In 1976 the Tehran UFO incident was witnessed by thousands and confirmed by both the iranian air force and the US team sent to investigate. Why isn't this incident more widely known in the west?

Dude, just Google it. There are a lot of legit sites you can check out. Incident is one of the best documented UFO encounters. Which is why I ask the question - why was it down played to the point where hardly anyone has heard of it?

Others who have appeared at the club include monarchs, prime ministers and premiers, members of Congress, Cabinet officials, ambassadors, scholars, entertainers, business leaders, and athletes. The Club's emblem is the Owl, in deference to wisdom, awareness and nights spent working.

Some of the videos from UFO Case Review and other videos on youtube points to National Press Conference aka National Press Club.

Why are most of the ufo sightings spotted by officials and not the public? Isn't that weird?

The public or "anonymous source" reports it to officials. Who's testimony comes first? Who is first interviewed? The official or the public?

Between 1982 and 1986, in Westchester county NY, an estimated 30,000 people saw a completely silent mile wide UFO. Highways were empty as people pulled off the road to stop and join the crowds of people gawking skyward. Thousands of people called the cops, thousands of cops saw it and had no one to call because they were the cops.

If you go around asking older folks if they saw it, like half of the time they'll tell you exactly where they were when they saw it and how unbelievable it was to see this giant fucking thing just floating by without making any sound.

Unsolved Mysteries and even Dateline did full stories on it.

The official explanation was that a group of pilot friends all took off in their cessna's, turned off their guide lights, stopped talking to air control, and flew tight aerobatic formations, at night, for years, without getting in any trouble because no such arrests were made, even though it's thoroughly fucking illegal to stop talking to air control and turn your lights off in the busiest airspace in the country.

Why isn't this incident more widely known in the west?
>>
>>16966103
Yeah- this is the one that always gets me- the so called 'Hudson Valley wave' went on for years, thousands of people reported it including cops & the military, several tv programs about it yet you still get skeptics going 'hurr wheres the evidence'. Think they tried to explain it away with 'groups of microlight flying in formation at night with lights on' even though people had reported mile wide objects moving silently, sometimes at incredible speed, but people were so desperate for an 'explanation' that they accepted that and it all went away- back to sleep everyone....
>>
>>16966131
I mean, people here didn't believe that explanation or forget seeing it.

And on the bright side, skeptics can't touch this one. Occam's razor works against them. Were thousands and thousands of people insane or mistaken for obscure reasons -- or did they just see what they say they saw?

In 1952, a bunch of UFO's chilled over the whitehouse for the better part of a month. Basically every time, jets were scrambled to make them leave, but, whenever the jets returned to base, the UFO's returned to the white house until they decided to leave. At one point, a pilot was ordered to engage a UFO.

i've heard of it even though i only have a passing interest in UFOs. as far as i understand, there is no photographic or video evidence so i think that makes it totally uninteresting to the majority of people who don't really have an interest in this kind of stuff. personally, i agree, that it's very interesting that it was regarded as such a credible sighting and it was the first "serious" sighting i'd heard of that hadn't been debunked, but since we can't see it ourselves, there's not much more to say because it will probably remain an unidentified object.

It's also worth mentioning that the size of the aircraft reported, could not fit on any of the runways at any of those airports.

People here are 100% used to seeing airplanes coming and going from westchester on their drive to work. We see dozens of commercial jets a day.

No one was mistaken about what they saw. No one.

No one had a video camera either. Despite the fact this happened for decades nobody thought about recording it.

Aircraft on approach appear to be lights "miles wide", silent, and in formation. Depends on your angle, time of day and weather conditions. First time I saw that shit from Red Rock looking towards McCarran I almost ran and got my camera, until I realized what it was.

The slight elevation changes, course deviations and more lights appearing in the distance made it quite pretty.

Looked like orbs falling from a mother ship.

There were videos. Also, it was the early 80's, not everyone had video cameras.

Aircraft on approach do not appear to be miles wide, nor are they silent. They appear to be around a hundred feet across, and the rumbling jet engine noise is fairly unmistakable. This is either a flagrant lie or you're seriously retarded.

People reported a massive flying wing design, floating along silently, at a low rate of speed. They also said that it was directly overhead, not off in the distance.

Additionally, Southern NY is one of the most populated airspaces in the world. Everyone who lives here sees dozens of planes a day, and usually a few at night too: departing from NYC, heading for NYC, holding for westchester, and also taking off from or landing at westchester. No one was mistaken. We know what planes are.

You know what makes the characteristic sound planes do? Breaking the sound barrier. Planes on approach don't make sound because the sound hasn't reached you yet. They pass over, and then you hear the rumbling

yes because passenger planes break the sound barrier
>>

Even if passenger planes could break the sound barrier, the reports were that it made no sound as it passed overhead: so it couldn't be a supersonic passenger plane either.

>>
>>16972269
No they don't you fucktard, passenger aircraft stay just under the sound barrier to avoid engine strain and noise pollution.

It's pretty stupid how far skeptics are reaching on this one. It's as though none of these people have been near an airplane in their lives.

>Hurr landing planes look a mile wide.
>Durr you can't hear passenger jets because they're supersonic.

Just to restate, new yorkers see dozens of planes a day. To put this in perspective, new yorkers see RAIN (sky water) once or twice a week.

It was not a plane.

>Val Johnson incident:

On August 27, 1979, Deputy Sheriff Val Johnson of Marshall County was on duty, driving not far from the North Dakota border, when at around 1:40 a.m. he saw a light through his side window. It was obviously not on a road and looked too glaring to be a car headlight.

He first thought it might be a small plane on or very near the ground. He turned left on another road to try to get closer to the light to identify it. Suddenly, the light moved toward him, travelling so fast that it almost instantaneously was upon his car (covering an estimated mile and a half).

Johnson was blinded by the brilliance of the light and heard glass breaking, then lost consciousness.

When he returned to consciousness, the car was stalled and had skidded across the highway. He felt sluggish and shaky. He radioed headquarters, at 2:19 a.m., to request assistance. Soon another deputy arrived, who called an ambulance.

The doctor who examined Johnson found him to be in a mild state of shock.

His eyes were irritated as if Johnson had suffered "mild welder's burns," and Johnson couldn't stand to be exposed to any bright lights.

The patrol car had very peculiar damage. The inside headlight on the driver's side was smashed but not the one to its immediate left. There was a flat-bottomed circular dent on the left side of the front hood, about a half inch in diameter, close to the windshield.

There was a crack in the windshield on the driver's side, that ran from top to bottom, with four apparent impacts. The electric clock was running 14 minutes slow, as was Johnson's wristwatch.

The shaft of the roof antenna was bent over at a 60-degree angle, starting about 6 inches above its base.

The trunk antenna was bent over at 90 degrees, but only near the top. No damage occurred to the car's regular antenna on the front hood. Essentially, all the damage to the car occurred on the left, or driver's side.

Every "UFO" sighting prior to 1991 was just our military testing different weapons/jets/etc

That's why there hasn't been any big "sightings" since 1991, because the cold war ended and the government didn't have to keep its new weapons so well hidden.

Now it's all about them nukes baby, and America loves flexing its muscle with them nukes.

>it goes past the tree I was partially standing under
>I move to see it again but it's not there or I can't find it.
It's hard to explain the size of something you see in the sky, I'd say it was twice as big as the moon though. The only thing I think it could be is a b-2 spirit since the state I live in bases those, but since when do military planes fly low over civilian airspace with no lights? I'd also swear that the front of the aircraft was more curved than a b-2. That's the only thing remotely UFO that I've ever seen.
