It was long time ago when I last listened to his lectures but I think he had some great ideas about general philosophies of life.
Also, psychedelics are a great way to see life and yourself from a different perspective.
The stone ape theory was not even researched by McKenna. He just dreamed about things happening in a time he never visited. Then told everyone he was rite.
McKenna liked to do shrooms. McKenna was tripping balls and started to fantasies about how early man might have experienced shrooms.
After a few years of literally stoner conversation about the universe McKenna comes up with theory that even he can't back up. If you asked him how he come to this revelation he would mis represent scientific studies to support his because I said so theory. Then later claims he learned what he needed from drugs then supposedly stopped doing them.
If getting stoned and contemplating existence is all you need to call your self a specialist on a subject that in no way can be tested or verified. Then Colorado is full of fucking geniuses that are ascended beyond reality.

OP ive never heard of this dudebut he sounds fucking smart, and not book smart like some pussy ass nerds im talking smart through experience, hes extremely thoughtful and observant which are traits of some of the smartest men alive. Mckenna checks out to be a real nigga in my book.
But something he said in one of the video links given in this thread triggered a thought, he said,"everyone seems to create DMT in their bodies natrually and everyone is able to experience the same thing, noone is more special for experiencing it because everything living can achieve this state" im paraphrasing of course but it makes me think, our human bodies are capable of so much and we have no clue. The theory that DMT is the key to achieving a humans full potential could lead many to believe that humans exist for the soul purpose of evolving to achieve this state,this could explain the reason for our entire existence if you really think about it. Like, so many people think,"why the fuck am i alive." Every day. And this could be the answer, we are alive to become these godly beings, our brains will be ablw to use DMT natrually to do so many things and the fact our minds already create it natrually is astounding. At this point in human evolution, DMT should not be a thing everyone should experience in my opinion. We are not to that point yet i think, but idk. Ok, so I've listened to probably hundreds of hours of Terence and here's what everyone should understand about him- It's fucking stupid to pull the DO U BEELEEVE shit with his ideas, because it's pretty well documented that even he didn't believe in the shit he talked about.
What he was trying to do is create a model for psychedelics, something that guess what? Everyone else interested in them at the time also was trying to do too.

If I was to give my theory about what DMT does (coming from someone who has never done it), I'd say that so many people meet SOMETHING that it's unreasonable to at least consider the possibility that it's God, or a god, or the afterlife, or the final stage of humanity in the future.
Or maybe it's just the us, tripping balls on the floor of our homes, seeing ourselves inside out and upside down. As a Buddhist, I'm told the difference is in degrees of separation, and in the end it's all Us, one way or another.
