Today I checked my favorite steaming site and pleasantly discovered that Downtown Abbey had already finished it's 6th season (which I hand't yet seen) and all episodes were available for viewing. But imagine my shock when I reallized that the show I had been watching for 6 years was not called Downtown as I had thought for the previous 6 years, but Downton.
Anyone else? What's going on here?

until i heard someone calling it "downton", turns out i just never actually took time to actually read the title, but just scanned it. i just assumed it was downtown.

I knew the name of the show was pronounced Down-ton (they say the name all the time in the show), which I specifically remember thinking was weird given the way I thought it was spelled (Downtown). But I simply attributed this discrepency between spelling and pronunciation to it being a british show.
But today I discover that both spelling and pronunciation align, how can this be, when for the past 6 years I had noted the discrepancy between spelling and pronunciation?
