Anything in the Silent Hill Franchise. The somewhat lovecraftian imagery of abstract manifestations of a person's inner psyche was visually amazing, but this only really goes up to Silent Hill 3. After that Team Silent tries to do a ghost game only to get it ham-fisted into being a fourth Silent Hill sequel. Team Silent splits and Konami is left with a Franchise they just don't get.

Depends on what they're going for. Silent Hill has good inner demons. Weeaboo bullshit has fun "just another race" stuff. DOOM's were good video game enemies.

Let's talk about the binding of isaac. I know it's cartoony and not exactly horrifying, but I really do love the way it shows things from his point of view (that of a child). Like how the devil, unless you directly confront him, is just a sort of omnipotent presence that is not hesitant to strike you down and steal your life. And even if you do confront him, the beginning is him sending demons to kill you because he can't be bothered. Then he shoots you for a second and his final form is massive and incomprehensible, only allowing you to see the hooves that directly strike at you. Is cool.
